Prb: green or red veil on my cd32 + FMV

I use my cd32(rev3.0) with a Full motion Mpeg card(rev2), but i've a green or red veil on screen. I've upgrad my firmware 40.22 to 40.30.
Can you help me to find a solution, maybe move a jumper on CN1 or another one ?

CN1 arent jumper pads, its a connector, probably test connector imo.
I assume youve replaced all C250 caps without any luck.
It will be pretty hard to find a bad component without scope there.

Not sure what this means but do you get the same thing with the FMV cartridge removed? Most video problems I've come across are due to loose connection on the video connector. A simple solder reflow fixes it.

Are you using the SVideo socket? Composite? RF?

still wonderin why he upgraded that eprom...

may be is there some pal/ntsc incompatibility, like in PS2, which wit some cables has green tint.
is it possible? i assume his cd32 is ntsc machine but cart is pal, or its universal cart?

sayasupacrew 07 February 2010 15:46

I've no veil with FMV removed. All the colors return

I've doing the two other test with another cd32(rev4.1 a 4.0), It's the same result

all capacitors have been changed on fmv card.

We thought that the firmware was too old, that's why we have upgradé the firmware.

I use the compisite RF.

I think that the Fullmotion card is a NTSC version. But how to see it on the card ?

Have you tried another output, like Video Composite or S-Video? These will give a better quality picture anyway, the RF signal is the worst of the lot.

Which is it? Do you use composite or RF?

sayasupacrew 08 February 2010 12:41

I is only the RF video out on my CD32.

Wario17 from amigaimpact.org say that.

I have just looked at my card FMV it totally identical has yours

- Rev 2
- copyright 1993
only the urom is a different version here is the inscriptions:

- 391777-01
- V40.22
- c COMMODORE on 1993

It is not thus a NTSC

sayasupacrew 13 March 2010 08:21

Who can repair me the FMV module ?

Cosmos 13 March 2010 08:28

I have tested this FMV on some CD32 (PAL, rev 4 and 4.1 french versions) : green veil when VCD watching and pink veil on WB !

I think the FMV is NTSC... So, how to convert it to PAL ?

:confused:confused:confused

Amiga Centre France can do such repairs. I had my FMV-card there two times. Great service, nice contact!!!
BTW never heared about such an NTSC-version of FMV-card. What happens when you switch to NTSC-mode in Early-Startup-menu and start a VideoCD later?

sayasupacrew 13 March 2010 22:06

I have to ask has Amiga Center. they say that the problem is known and repair.

Thus it is a breakdown, the price estimate 150 euros.

rkauer 14 March 2010 05:58

Maybe a longshot: how are the voltage levels from the power supply?

IIRC, the CD32 PSU barely copes with the basic unit itself (in the very common and bad Commodore style)...:banghead

sayasupacrew 14 March 2010 08:18

Wario and Me tried another PSU modified PC, the resultat is the same.

Jope 14 March 2010 09:26

Paint every component with an UV marker before you send it, then you know what he did.

AmigaCenter France gets the cards working but he never tells you what you're paying for. Could be one swapped resistor, could be something difficult.

nujack 14 March 2010 16:56

@Jope: That's not true. I've got back the defect components with the original hardware.

Jope 14 March 2010 18:05

Intriguing. I've repaired a CSMK2 and a CSPPC there and only got vague remarks like "there's something around the clock circuitry". If I hadn't asked, I wouldn't have had even that, merely a price quote.

Naturally we're paying for his expertise, but if I get just about anything else done by someone else, I know what they did / what was really wrong if I ask.

Sure, the job gets done, but at least I feel a bit strange if I ask what was done and only get something very vague.

sayasupacrew 14 March 2010 18:43

I is not at the moment 150 euros, has t it there another repair man ?
