tried these already thanks but still poorly

Does the board came with memory sockets fully populated? Are the memory SIMMs ok?
Does the 040 heats a lot? |
no the chip seems pretty cool and there are 3 gvp simms on board i`ve tried them all together in pairs and by themselves still nothing all simms are 4megs
|
If the 040 is cool (or even slightly warm), then you could have:
a) the oscillator crystal fall out the socket; b) a busted CPU. Check the crystal to see if it is in place and firmly attached and pray the CPU didn't busted for the lack of clock. Also (carefully) pull off the 040 and reinsert it. |
the chips and crystals are soldered on and all joints look as new

will the Amiga boot to work bench with the card installed?
I am wondering if you can access the early boot menu, pending on the kickstart rom you are using to see if the card is there to be used. Good luck with this |
she`s now working memory could be a bit dodgy though will get round to testing this weekend but the board chip and scsi are all there which is a bit step. don`t know what i did though. just need gvp memory now

The 64-pin SIMM sockets of the 030 and 040 GVP Combo accelerators I've seen so far were all rather fiddly - the SIMM modules tended to wriggle out of them eventually. (My current A2000 has the wires coming out from the PSU arranged strategically to keep the SIMMs in their place....) |
