Update database to latest Retroplay WHDLoad set

Hi, there's an easy way to update openretro database to latest Retroplay WHDLoad set update?

EDIT (by FrodeSolheim): I pinned this thread since this topic comes up regularly.

hi,

only frode can start an import run to get the database to current state of whdload.
the database is up to date until some point in april 2019.
so all you/we can do is to wait until frode have time to trigger the update process.

Yes, they are recognized by FS-UAE. Last WHDLoad games integration update was in April iirc. So, every new/updated slave after that needs another manual update from Frode.

last WHDLoad dat: 01/03/2020
last FS-UAE WHDLoad database: ???

thevoice 03 March 2020 03:57

the only valid .dat file is : when frode imports newer whdload installs :)
he did it and the entries are there up to february 25th. they just weren't linked to their correct entries.
you could have done that on your own since then :).
anyway i have updated whdload to current now. well those titles which have an entrry already.

How we can do this? There's a tutorial?

thevoice 03 March 2020 08:16

@pucci: i don't think there is a tutorial. but technically you just copy & paste the uuid of the parent title into the updated whdload variant.

Who upload the whdload variant entry in the database?

I should create a better UI for this on openretro.org...

That would be me :)

There a still a few WHDLoad variants which are not linked to any game. You can find those here: https://openretro.org/reports/orphans - The reason that these are (still) orphaned is that game entries for these are missing. I'm planning to go through these soon and fix that.

Btw, the WHDload support in openretro.org is up to date with Retroplay's WHDLoad archives as of Feb 25th when I did a sync/import last.

FrodeSolheim 04 March 2020 21:26

Phew, I've gone through and added missing game entries where needed to associate all current WHDLoad variants with games. I've also fixed the importer to import a few dozen WHDLoad variants which were not imported (mainly due to not being able to detect the WHDLoad arguments).

So, the database should be almost complete now, I've synced with Retroplay's WHDLoad archives as of yesterday. Some game entries are still "Not published" due to missing metadata and images, but you can enable "Unpublished games" in the Launcher to make these visible.

The following archives are not supported yet due to the .lzx format not being supported by the Launcher or my import scripts, and the other two .lha files due to configs exceeding a max limit in OpenRetro.org currently (the file lists are huge):
Code:

Calephar_v1.0_Files_2661.lzx
EmeraldMines_v1.0_CD.lha
EmeraldMines_v1.0_CD.lzx
TimeRunnersSeries_v1.0.lha

Retroplay 04 March 2020 22:11

Unfortunately, CalepharFiles, for whatever reason gets borked if lha compressed.
As for Emerald Mines CD, lha and lzx contain the same files, more on that here:

Thanks for the background info :) Btw, is there a chance you could try .zip instead of .lzx. Would be nice to get 100% support ;)

Retroplay 04 March 2020 22:32

You can just use Calephar_v1.0_Image_2661.lha,
same game, just instead of extracted files it uses a disk image.

Same content, bottled differently, so to speak. :)
Game also has some "illegal" characters only working on an Amiga file system, so disk image is the best way to go if using emulator without a proper Amiga formatted hdf.
