Mini USB stick not working with Gotek

This is the third mini USB stick I bought, not working with the Cortex Gotek drive. First one, don't remember, threw it away! Second one, fancy USB 3 Sandisk something or other, no deal. And now another Sandisk; Cruzer Fit CZ33 USB 2.0, which isn't working either, the display just shows --- and nothing loads, nothing happens. Selector.adf is on the stick which is formatted fat16.

What am I doing wrong?!

Cruzer Fits are shit.
I had issues with them not being recognized by things like this or a 1541 Ultimate, or my iBook G4 and more.
The two I had only worked on my XBox 360 and my Raspberry Pi.
The Cruzer Fit I had on my Raspberry Pi died after 2 years of use. Drive locked itself up read-only. Sandisk sent a replacement, but I am not using it. Waiting to see how long til the Xbox one dies.

I cannot recommend against them enough. GEt something else, the Kingston DT series, they are rather tiny and reliable.

It works flawlessly, just not in the Gotek.

Too long. I might as well stick to my Verbatim 4GB from the Cretaceous period.

Bought a Verbatim Store 'n Go 16GB and finally, I got a mini USB stick to work! That thing is really, really small. Works great.

I use really old USB memories given away as promotional material, so as far from high quality brands you can get.
