OpenBOR - The 2D Side Scrolling Engine Ported to Classic Amiga !

Hi there!

i've ported OpenBOR Engine to 68K Amigas. If you aren't familiar with OpenBOR it is the ultimate 2D side scrolling engine. OpenBOR is the open source continuation of Beats of Rage, a Streets of Rage tribute game originally developed by Senile Team

You will need at least an Amiga with a fast 68040 AGA or RTG to play this.

I uploaded it the Zone and to Aminet tonight but link still may need a few hours to appear - http://aminet.net/game/actio/OpenBOR.lha

Complete instructions available in the Readme.

Screen shots below are captured on my Amiga A600 with Vampire 2

Video showing performance on real Amiga hardware (A4000, A1200, Vampire 2) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXvK8f3HnGM

I also livestreamed how I ported this over to the Amiga on my youtube channel over the past 2 weekends - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...7RXBJD6kqQQYTF if people were interested in that :)

Let me know how you like the port. I have fun working on this. Right then - off to play some Final Fight in OpenBOR :great

Great work!

The AGA version looks very playable on the 060. I'll give it a try in the V500 V2+ later.

Brilliant!

Basically, the vampire 2 shows that the Capcom CPS1 & 2 could be emulated with it :)

Sir_Lucas 15 June 2017 09:46

Great job!!!

OpenBOR isn't emulating anything. It's a game engine meant mostly for beat 'em up games.

Yupiiii!!!!! Thank you!!!

I was pointing that the vampire board has enough grunt power to run CPS games :)

I know that OpenBOR is not emulating anything :)

That's a non-sequitur, because CPS hardware need to be emulated, which is much more processor intensive. We will see if somebody makes an up to date MAME port. The MAME 0.113 by Fab is probably a good candidate.

How should games be configured ? With a fixed resolution ?

I tried Mega Man Armada 0.0.1.pak and SFFGold.pak without success.

lantus360 15 June 2017 21:13

they should adjust screen res. what happens with you run FFGold? im sure i tested that one previously

amiga1260 15 June 2017 21:24

I tried to download it from Aminet, but the lik doesn't work anymore:confused

lantus360 15 June 2017 21:30

it still hasnt appeared there yet..its also in the zone for download :)

roomeo 15 June 2017 21:38

Awesome! Is there support for keyboard?

lantus360 15 June 2017 21:39

joystick only for now..keyboard is coming..i completely removed SDL as it really helped improve performance - as a result some things that were there (in the live streams) may no longer be there..but im adding things back in
