GameBase Amiga v1.6 released
GameBase Amiga v1.6 is online now, including all files, except for a New Games pack, which will follow soon. If GameBase reports missing files, please also get the Missing Files pack from the @Main directory in the Download File Archive, this problem will be fixed soon.
Head over to the GameBase Amiga Homepage to get it. p.s. If you would like to try a different interface for GameBase Amiga, also remember to check out AAG's GBPlayer. |
Hurrah!

This is great news, congratulations !
Inmho GBA should be as popular as WinUAE, as it's the perfect counterpart to using whdload in order to populate one's Amiga games stock and listing one's favorites, of course. Since I've been happily using Gamebase Amiga for a few monthes now, I think I can make one or two remarks. I truely hope you or your teammates won't consider that I am trying to rain on your parade, as it is really not my intention. - First, I would gladly see post-install steps appear on Gamebase web site. I discussed these steps with you and got everything I needed to run a full Gamebase Amiga database, including explanations and missing files. This said, I obtained them over IRC, and I am not sure I could have gone so far without your "interactive" help. - As for Windows Vista compatibility, Gamebase program has been updated to v1.2, so GBA IS now fully compatible, that's a fact. (yeah, I know we probably want to forget about these dull discussions, but still...) I feel like mentioning the following, for the common good : There's an annoying security feature in Vista, called Data Execution Prevention, which prevents GBA and some other legit proggies from loading, because it THINKS they makes faulty memory accesses. (It may be better implemented in 64-bit Vista's). With the SP1 installed, one has the ability to disable it safely for each and every program, except for Windows own programs & services. Feel free to mention this or not on your web site or in the install notes. Last but not least, I've noticed some Amiga gamers make a direct connexion between GBA and TOSEC. It could be an idea to clarify things a bit, as they may wonder in what way the first is related to the second. |
has the killergorilla May pack been added to 1.6 or do i need to do this myself
|

Hi
Thanks for the new release! Just one thing with the WHDL's, I've got a full set according to "WHDLoad Games DAT-2008-05-21.zip" but when verifying the extras from Gamebase, I'm missing :-
I also found a posting http://www.gamebase64.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=130193/4 of the way down, in which you say Academy_v1.0.zip, BackToTheFuturePart2_v1.2_0005.zip & GhostBattle_v1.0.zip "have now been removed from GB Amiga". Did you add them back into GB Amiga??? Thanks PS - Any idea when the 1.6 main adf update pack is likely to be available? |
Ooops..
BTTF2 is a mistake, I should have removed that. As for Ghost Battle, I didn't say I removed it, I said KG removed it (which he did) However I kept it in as it works perfectly with WinUAE but not with real amigas I'll post Ghost Battle in the zone and we'll put it on the GB Amiga site for download as well. Not sure about the adf update pack, maybe this weekend. |

Have you tried it with GB Amiga though?
Still works great for me. |
It seems to work better with newer WinUAE versions, but i had a lot of crashes with WinUAE 1.3, 1.4. Just tried it on my real Amiga, crashed after a few seconds.

Hi, i seem to be missing 4 games in SPS... 2541_Trinity_Disk1 2543_Wishbringer - The Magick Stone of Dreams_Disk1 2652_Star Control_Disk1 2652_Star Control_Disk2 Are these released yet?
|
Well if they're in, then they must be released. :p
But alas, that's where this discussion ends. Heed the rules of EAB. |
Ok thanks, i wasn't actually asking for the games, mearly asking if they were release,
|
Hi,
Am I the only one to miss the following feature in GBA ? A second column to list the other retro-computers the game was also released onto For example : Barbarian (Palace) / Second column would read : Also available on C64 & CPC. Then I could instantly see in other Gamebases how the game compare, graphics wise. I can live without MS-DOS conversion mention, but I do miss these ones. |
Gamebase Amiga is written around the limitations of Gamebase.
Go bug the author of gamebase. |
I have this feeling that, except for a few c64 owners or ex-owners, the Amiga community is not really paying its due tribute to its predecessors, namely the CPC and, to a lesser extend, the Speccy.
OK, I am heading to the retro-gaming section of the forum. Thanks, anyway. |
The Hall of Light database has a section just for versions of each game on other platforms and Belgarath actually deals with most of this information:
e.g. Lemmings: http://hol.abime.net/872/conversionshot |
If your feeling brave - then GBPlayer has a "HOL" plugin which searches HOL based on the game name. (See the 1st post in this thread for the link).
PS - The section "Guide - Lookup Plugins" from http://gbplayer.xiik.net/ has some sample screen shots. |
