thank you!

Hi.. I was just wondering if the DCandy filebase is available online anywhere?

I'm desperately trying to find an archive I uploaded called Games Creation System (GCS) as I lost my copy when a HD went bad.

Would have uploaded it around 1998.

If anyone could help, that would be really appreciated.

Hi Niki, welcome to the forum ;)

By accident, do you have some backup of your BBS to share ?

Niki Murkett 28 June 2018 14:12

Unfortunately, I lost everything.. BBS, source code to Max's Pro etc etc.

Still in hope that there's some disks buried somewhere with the important stuff on.

chip 28 June 2018 17:02

I dislike of that Niki :(

Thanks for reply :p

I remember many happy hours on Digital Candy. Made a lot of friends. Doesn't seem like it was over 25 years ago now!

Hi Hybrid ;) Miss my Digital Candy Co-sysop days & /X section... if only we could go back in time like the HOT TUB TIME Machine :)

Currently running thedeviants.net, helping feed the world yet again.

I ask as well like Chip, do you have any backup of the Digital Candy BBS ?

dirkies 17 December 2023 17:15

Fyi, this deviants site is full of phishing and malware links to "pretended/fake" links to copyrighted material, my Malwarebytes went wild with warnings with each click in this website, is this really the place to advertise for it? And is this EAB account even real?

cYBER^UK 18 December 2023 08:00

thedeviants.net is not full of phising and malware, it's just a redirect site, you're wrong dirkies

Well Paul, it's like you said. The internet was closing in rapidly, the number of callers fell over time, and our only hope was to get Scene Storm II out and some cash in. As uploads fell, it became more difficult to make SS II an essential purchase, and then the Amiga just got left behind. As far as I know, the hardware has been sold on to other people, although I still have an A600 I don't use it much. Even I just got on the pc bandwagon because the hardware became far superior than even the A4000 we had. I began designing/implimenting websites, interactive cd's and stuff like that alongside my main job, then the family came along...I'm sure we all know how hard that makes maintaining stuff!

That A4000 is still probably the most reliable bit of hardware I've ever owned, downtime was minimal, it never crashed, and was a great piece of kit. The whole BBS however cost me a freakin fortune to co-run with Ian, and eventually caused me nothing but grief :-(

You can still use an BBS over the Internet, if you have an TelNet Client for your PC, Amiga or Mac. iPhone, Samsung SmartPhones or similar brands of SmartPhones. The BBS needs to be running on an TelNet Server based Computer.
