Gyruss NES for those who don't know the version

I would also throw in the bunch Juno First, another shooter still by Konami

It's a long shot, but I'd love it if my favorite 80s arcade game made it to the Amiga:

Codetapper had started working on Gyruss. But it never saw the light of day...

We should express our support to that project and the unfinished RoadRunner of his.

Ultimately, don't get me wrong but wishlists aren't really useful as everyone would like to see such or such game, but the team or person that undertakes that task chooses a game that they like and they believe possible in the given time constraint that they have, not a game that someone chooses for them.

That's probably why mcgeezer put a limited choice (well, ok, except for the "do my own game" part, which he's currently doing with the Kungfu master / Vigilante hybrid)

Personally I'm contemplating porting Scramble, Time Pilot or Phoenix. Scramble is on my shortlist. Each port is time consuming so no 16 bit era ports for me. 8 bit ports are already enough work.

Just a note (reviewing poll game list): Pacman is now done, Space Invaders as well, and Double Dragon is in progress, looks promising. Wonderboy is doing great as well.

Gyruss - although the game looks prettier in other conversions, the gameplay and music of the Atari 8-bit version made it one of my favourite games.

Otherwise my vote is for Gauntlet arcade!

Ohhhh - Time Pilot , love it! And you are right, people tend to do the games they like and not what people want.

People certainly love my Amidar port and that's pretty much unexpected for a not so well known game. Great news :)

I grow up playing Phoenix and Scramble in arcades, but I would love to see good Wonderboy port on Amiga. I think Amiga should be able to run it at decent speed.

Used to play this wearing ice skates on a Friday and Saturday night at the old (sadly no longer there) Bournemouth ice rink. I'm sure the extra wobble from the skates made it even harder to play...

Scramble in my local arcade as well, seriously annoying getting through the base level but it can be done. Prefer it to Supra Cobra the sequel(ish)

nikosidis 12 January 2022 10:51

I'm just thinking. Should not Scramble be done in NTSC 60hz?

jotd 12 January 2022 11:00

NTSC doesn't cut it, not enough lines, original machine uses a 3:4 (rotated 4:3) display.

All other games (Pacman, ..) run at 60Hz (logic) but are refreshed at 50Hz (PAL)

You're obviously right but EAB wouldn't be EAB if it didn't turn into a 39 page listing of every game ever known to man :)

Of course someone else may see a game and be inspired to try to port it.

Ha! I used to go there too in the 80's :D:D

The person who tactfully titled the thread "wonderboy", I would reckon :)

Anubis 12 January 2022 15:29

You can tell that either my brain is not working or perhaps I am lazy... hope it is not corona.

Thank you Mr. gimbal.

Can't wait to play wonderboy on amiga. It does look much better then that steam version we got. :D

Back to OP, I see only 1 console game mentioned, but makes me wonder if Amiga would be able to run something like MUSHA for Sega MegaDrive / Genesis.
