You need to get to where the HDToolBox icon is. Click it once and then choose "Icon->Information" from the RightMouse menu.
You should then be able to type DEVICE=uaehf.device into the tooltypes part and save it. Hopefully you should then be able to run HDToolBox and prep your drive as required :) |

SCSI_DEVICE_NAME=scsi.device And type in the new one..? |

Glad to be of service... I had to do a similar thing with gvpscsi.device once :)

Im, having this problem. Tried and tried and tried, still will not work, is there any way to get rid of the safety warning? its annoying.
I have altered httoolbox to uaehf.device, I have only set the CF card as dh0: rebooted and rebooted, but everytime hdtool box does not see the drive fullstop. EDIT:- also drive safety check disable does not work. It did in last beta before 1.4.3. Bootlog, says its active, and not disabled even though i done the magic command line. Heres the bootlog, with check disabled. Notice how it says its ignored the drives. opening device '\\?\ide#diskhdt722525dlat80_________________________v44oa70a#5&214892f4&0&0.0.0#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}' device id string: 'HDT722525DLAT80 V44OA70A' BytesPerSector=512 Cyls=30401 TracksPerCyl=255 SecsPerTrack=63 device size 250059350016 (0x3a38b2e000) bytes 4 MBR partitions found 0: num: 1 type: 07 offset: 32256 size: 20974431744, type not 0x76 1: num: 2 type: 07 offset: 20974464000 size: 104855869440, type not 0x76 2: num: 3 type: 07 offset: 125830333440 size: 124226403840, type not 0x76 non-empty MBR partition table detected, doing RDB check anyway hd ignored, not empty and no RDB detected opening device '\\?\usbstor#disk&ven_generic&prod_storage_device&rev_0128#01090&0#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}' device id string: 'Generic STORAGE DEVICE 0128' BytesPerSector=512 Cyls=499 TracksPerCyl=255 SecsPerTrack=63 device size 4110188544 (0xf4fc8000) bytes 1 MBR partitions found 0: num: 1 type: 04 offset: 0 size: 4110188544, type not 0x76 non-empty MBR partition table detected, doing RDB check anyway hd ignored, not empty and no RDB detected opening device '\\?\usbstor#disk&ven_generic&prod_storage_device&rev_0128#01090&1#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}' device id string: 'Generic STORAGE DEVICE 0128' IOCTL_DISK_GET_DRIVE_GEOMETRY failed with error code 21. Note that you can remove the command line parameter after you have partitioned the drive in hdtoolbox. Quote:
Make sure you have the real drive in topmost position in harddrive-panel. (added using "add harddrive") Quote:
Because your CF is MBR formatted, make sure you reinsert it after you have partitioned it with hdtoolbox (you don't want windows to think it is still MBR formatted while you are accessing it in WinUAE..) |
Ermmm, you just repeated what i have already done, Everything you have put I have already done. It will not show the CF in HDToolBox, hence my problem. I could just go and partition it in my real Amiga, but that defeats the object of the function in WinUAE.
EDIT:- Just tried again, and it worked first time, i have done nothing different from before. Bug maybe? EDIT2:- There is definately issues, I have setup RDB, then rebooted, now even though i can see partitions, HDtoolBox, will not see the CF again. There is definate issues with this feature. |

As I said though, seems to be working now, and i dont know why. Got OS3.9 setup perfect, so ill not mess with it now. |
I managed to format a 40GB drive in USB, worked like a charm.
Except.. as I partitioned it, got only around 5.3GB to use for my 3 partitions. WB shows the same amount of space. Should I be able to use full 40GB? Latest WinUAE, latest SFS, kick3.1, WB install3.1, 40GB 2.5"Toshiba in USB. |

Non-safe solutions are already posted somewhere in this forum but I don't recommend them. You NEED updated scsi.device driver which normally comes with OS3.5+ setpatch or you will lose your data or in best case partitions don't mount. (uaehf.device fully supports big drives but ROM built-in Amiga drivers won't without patching) |
Well so I guess small boot partition and then after OS3.5+
one can use the other partitions without risk. Dunno if right thread for OS question but.. maybe has something to do with using the HDDs: Whats in 3.9 compared to 3.5? 3.5 sold cheaply, can it be upgraded from Aminet etc. to be a 3.9? Does 3.5 / 3.9 install CD from Germany include also English version? (really used 3.0 and ffs with 1260 till 1998) -Huezo |
