Finally got round to installing parts 1 and 2 on my 1200 yesterday afternoon, and have had mixed results.

Using the WHDLoad icon for either game simply results in a black screen.

If I use the other icon to run each game, EOB1 runs perfectly, and I must say, looks lovely.

EOB2 works perfectly all the way to the character select screen, but at that point there's nothing to click on - all the character faces are missing. Most odd!

Calabazam 14 April 2013 19:55

Strange! I have been able to play EOB2 AGA straight to the end with no problem at all.
These ports are really great work.
I hope EOB3 will come one day.

Predseda 14 April 2013 20:31

I hope someone will once compile Hired Guns with PC VGA graphic the same way as EOBs. :great

Marcuz 14 April 2013 20:32

Bah to port VGA games to AGA is boring and since the colors in VGA were often badly used already, the results would be uninteresting for many games (hint: EoB III too).
I would like to play EoB III ported to OCS/ECS, though.

Hello

Not a bug, but in PC version there's feature that "Hold Person" not only makes enemy not moving, but also makes enemy blue. Similar "Flesh to Stone" (EoB2) makes enemy grey.

It's possible to add this in AGA port?

Marcuz 13 August 2015 00:28

Is that in EoB 2? or in EoB 3?

Solo Kazuki 13 August 2015 19:24

Hmm... i was just running EoB under SCUMMVM and it looks that it's only in 3rd part.

Sorry for this, my mistake ;)

Eye of the Beholder 2 - Medusa Doors

Hello

Currently i'm on last level of Azure Tower in EoB2. During game there was some messy palete changes after talking occurance (e.g. when you met character). But save&load helps, after loading palette is correct.

But now there's "minor problem" which cause "mayor problem". AFAIR medusas CAN open doors in ECS version, in AGA they cannot. There are doors which (AFAIR) should be opened by medusa, but they aren't. You must get in here to get stone dagger (portal key).

Edit: Also checked on real hardware (A1200 w. Apollo 68040@33 + 16MB), medusas still not come out. Both DOS & WHDLoad version has this problem.
If somebody is interested i can send save game from place just as on map.

The AGA versions should be automatically recognized by the online game database now of you have the games files indexed by the file database :)

(Variant names "WHDLoad, Map, v1.09, AGA" and "WHDLoad, Map, v1.05, AGA")

Which copies do you need? The lha/lzh archives or the whdload versions? I can zip up my copy if need be.

Twiggy 07 August 2018 19:28

I assume that's a complete WHDLoad version? If so, then that would be great, of both games. Ta

Try this link my friend - use 7z to unzip the files/directories into your Amiga HD or folder that can be accessed by WinUAE:

Twiggy 10 August 2018 23:04

Thanks. I'll give that a try!

Minuous 11 August 2018 05:00

@Ginger_DeNiro:

You could use MCE to edit your EOB2 party to correspond with your EOB1 one.

My eab-fu must have been below par that day (thanks though). Thanks to Valken I've got it up and running. Looking forward to giving it a proper try soon.

Hi guys,

I am wondering if it's actually possible to do this without any programming skills but I am a big eob fan and I want to translate the game in my language. I managed to open the file containing the spells, intros and in game messages using amiga ed and edited both games successfully BUT the files containing the dialogue (eg Dran and Xanathar's monologues and NPC interactions) seem to be encrypted and uneditable.

Is there a solution to this for people with very limited computer knowledge?

Thanks!
