Belgarath and twitek both have full access in the /GameBase Amiga 2/ folder, FYI

Got an explanation from DamienD on this as well. 2.1 is Belgarath's last "Official" version and 2.3 is an unofficial update, so we'll keep both versions.

thanks for this unknown also for me info
and for all the constant work on the ftp

i have used an i'm still using it a lot in these last two years,
it's helping me a lot :great

Belgarath 29 December 2022 21:32

As I've no idea what changes were made for 2.3, it definitely is not official, especially if there are things missing?

I might go through at some point and check, and maybe make a final "official" version, but don't hold your breath.

TCD 30 December 2022 08:03

Thank you for the answer Belg :) Maybe somebody else could make a list of the missing files?

for my experience, mostly SPS files, multidisk;
i don't know if this is search example could help, but look ie searching for Heimdall :

http://ftp.grandis.nu/eabsearch/sear...0&httplinks=on

seems some Heimdall2 and Heimdall2 AGA SPS disks are missing from the GB2.3 ?

Turran 30 December 2022 11:07

There is a lot of dupes in GameBase Amiga 2.1 and 2.3. Only small changes in 2.3 according to DamienD so I suggest we kill off 2.3 unless someone takes responsibility for it. Then we can see if Mr Belgarath makes an final version sometime in the future.

That'll save ~20GB seeing as there is a .zip of the entire 2.3 as well. I'm not too keen on unofficial updates, unless its a just a diff between the old and new AND has an owner attached to it.

Thoughts?

I would also say that keeping only the actual update part of 2.3 (new files) as a diff would be the way to go then.

Turran 30 December 2022 13:40

Here is a diff I ran. Looks OK?

http://ftp2.grandis.nu/downloads/diff.txt

TCD 30 December 2022 13:59

Just had a quick look and to me it looks good. So the plan would be to make a 'Only in Amiga 2.3' archive and keep 2.1?

Turran 30 December 2022 14:58

Sounds good, yes. Will you or do you want me to script it?

TCD 30 December 2022 15:01

I think a script on the server makes more sense than downloading the lot and doing it locally :)

Turran 30 December 2022 15:32

Done. I created an "Unoffical_Update" folder containing only the new files from 2.3.
Also added an Amiga_2.3.txt file listing the deleted files.

TCD 30 December 2022 15:35

Nice :great

If nobody else has an opinion on this I'll start cleaning up TheZone starting next week.

TCD 04 January 2023 13:34

Collection/Scans/Manuals both Applications and Games have been cleaned up.

TCD 06 January 2023 08:23

Hardware manuals and books are cleaned up too. Slowly getting towards the end.

I could use some help :) There are a few CU Amiga supplement issues in http://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/Co...es/CU%20Amiga/ that I'm quite sure are already in http://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/TO...%20CU%20Amiga/
Matching them isn't that hard, but it takes time. If somebody would be willing to check those 14 PDFs and match them with the TOSEC-PIX folder it would be appreciated.

It seems that files in http://ftp2.grandis.nu/turran/FTP/Co...es/CU%20Amiga/ all are NON TOSEC.

TCD 11 January 2023 17:46

I know. I was just wondering if they have the same content like one of the TOSEC-PIX magazines.

TCD 14 January 2023 15:26

Have to share this here...

'Collection/Compilation/Fred_TheGang_2014_Amiga_Collection/Amiga - Not TOSEC/Demos - DMS' contained 291 DMS files. After converting them to ADF 4 files remained that couldn't be converted to ADF. That makes 287 ADF files. Out of those only 1 (one) wasn't in TOSEC.
