I have completed the Crystal version before as well. When you're done, I'll let you know if the CRC match.

Files & CRC/MD5:
Another World (1991)(U.S. Gold)[cr CSL](Disk 1 of 2).adf {CRC32 11E8276D}
Another World (1991)(U.S. Gold)[cr CSL](Disk 2 of 2).adf {CRC32 F9BB74A6}
Notes:
The game works 100%.

-------------------------

Edit: Hmmm, not positive but this crack seems to be from the French version? Take a look at the two screen shots of the level code entry screen. The first one is from the Crystal crack and the second one is from the Delphine Collection...

What do you guys think?

Adderly 06 June 2006 23:39

yes the "Invalide" word is strange coz not english. Just a guess, but did you checked the spelling of the SPS, year 1991, version?

There is an english (SPS 0425) and a french version (SPS 2377) from the 1991 retail release.

Unfortunately as both original retail SPS versions have protection, I'm unable to even get to the level code access screen :sad

However, what I did do was:
... Copied both the original retail .ipf files for the English and French disk 1's --> .adf files.
... Extracted the file another from each .adf file using Total Commander32.
... Viewed the each file using UltraEdit-32 Text Editor.
... Now searched for the word pass.

Screen shots are attached of both versions...

It seems that the Crystal crack is neither one of these, maybe it's been hacked after cracking. It's much more like the English version though but has French parts. I don't know what's going on :confused

Maybe the PC Codewheel helps for the protection screen. It is in the Zone.

Thanks for that Retro-Nerd... I'll give it a try now and see if I can get to the level code screen with both versions ;)

However, it will say the same as in the above attached images i.e:

English:
PASSWORD INVALID!

French:
MOT DE PASSE INVALIDE !

Nice work Retro-Nerd, the PC Codewheel works ;)

I've now grabbed screen shots of the level codes access screen for the original retail SPS English + French versions...

So in conclusion; all SPS versions have different level codes access screens to the the Crystal crack. However the Crystal crack is virtually 99% perfect english, just slightly hacked I guess which is no big deal really.

;)

Edit: just took a look at the screenshot and it looks like the English one was soemhow posted twice :banghead

Fixed now...

... or the Crystal crack is not *final sales*...
Anyway, a strange finding DamienD, good work! :great

Highly possible ;)

I think the last thing left to do is:

... Test the original retail English SPS release vs. the Crystal crack to see if there are any other differences.

I'm sure they will be slight though ;)

Mods:
So we don't clog up this thread with Another World investigations, do you think you could move posts #43 - post #50 to the thread http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=23714?

My d2's CRC matches, but not d1. You should add these entries w/ [!] to the TOSEC thread. As for it being French vs English, maybe the translator missed that text and that was how the first English release was.

I don't mind Zoning it, but it might be a NTSC patch or something. Plus, do we really want to have another alt image for TOSEC? :) If you are still interested please PM me.
Thanks.

Strider - bad graphics

- Strider (1989)(U.S. Gold)[cr VF]

it seems that all versions cracked by VF have bad graphics

Does anyone have a (trained) version that has no graphic errors ?

Belgarath 14 October 2006 15:01

The Flashtro version is trained and has no gfx errors, I'l upload it to the zone.

Desert Strike Return to the Gulf:
---------------------
Game: Desert Strike Return to the Gulf
Cracker: Demo Screen is broken - Orange Bar at the bottom
Trainer:
Files & CRC/MD5:
Notes: Works MOSTLY fine but you cannot kill the plane in the final mission on the final map, unless you crash your apache into it on low health and craash on it. You get to see the general burning anim but when you go back to the actual game it locks up.

Rest of the game works fine, you can still see the win screen by typing in a level password for it

Also, On Map 3 Mission 6, you have to make sure all of the hostages are rescued or drowned before proceeding to the next step or you will be in a danger zone still

DamienD 18 November 2006 13:05

Hello MazinA,

Thanks for the report :great

...however, would it be possible for you to provide the name of the disks you used (at the least) or the CRC32s (best solution)?

This way we can identify which version it is you are talking about. For example on PlanetEmu (which doesn't have the latest TOSEC sets) there are the following .ADF files:

... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 1 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 1 of 3)[a].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 1 of 3)[cr QTX][t +16 UP].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 2 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 3 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)(Disk 3 of 3)[a].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr Backlash][t +7 LTD](Disk 1 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr Backlash][t +7 LTD](Disk 2 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr Backlash][t +7 LTD](Disk 3 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX](Disk 1 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX](Disk 1 of 3)[a].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX](Disk 1 of 3)[t +10 SLT].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX](Disk 2 of 3)[b].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX](Disk 2 of 3)[t +10 SLT].adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX](Disk 3 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX][o](Disk 1 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX][o](Disk 2 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX][o](Disk 3 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX][t +16 Tribe](Disk 1 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX][t +16 Tribe](Disk 2 of 3).adf
... Desert Strike (1993)(Electronic Arts)[cr PDX][t +16 Tribe](Disk 3 of 3).adf

;)

PS : desert strike has no protection on disk BTW
