Does anyone know if the Competition Pro Retro has two independent fire buttons?

Retro-Nerd 22 February 2011 21:39

Nope.

Shatterhand 29 March 2011 04:54

The Mega-Drive pad works on Amiga with 2 independent buttons: B and C

Some other games that supported it :

Street Fighter 2
Brutal Sports Football
Fightin' Spirit
Project X (Not 100% sure on this one)
Alien Breed 2
Alien Breed Tower Assault

One I *really* wished it supported was Battle Squadron. Having to circle the joystick to drop a bomb is pretty stupid (Even more considering the code to do it with a 2nd button was already there, when you play with a mouse). It would be better to map it to a key on the keyboard, just like Hybris,

Well, at least the WHDLoad versions supports the second button for the smartbombs in Battle Squadron & Hybris. :)

Sorry to pick up on this thread so late after I started it (was kinda busy after the quake -- living in South Sendai I was only a couple of miles away from getting squashed by the wave! ^^ No kidding).
Anyways, I've updated my first post to list the games mentioned so far... Thank you all for your input!

antonvaltaz 18 May 2011 15:29

Total Football

Edit: Also, I used to use Sega Master System pads with lots of these games, esp SSF2, so I know it works for 2 button games, at least

Snow Bros also works with two independent buttons. I use it with a megadrive pad and works perfectly!

Didn't Arabian Nights and Soccer Kid support the second fire button for something?

SunChild 12 September 2013 11:48

Thanks for guys, revisiting old threads and so finally updated the 1st post with your entries... (better late, right? ^_~)

BTW, I'd love to see more WHDLoad versions improving originals with multiple buttons support! (*hint/request!!*)

These games also support a 2 button joystick.

Alien 3
Fifa International Soccer
Joe & Mac : Caveman Ninja
Black Viper

Rebel-CD32 12 September 2013 14:12

Are you sure Shadow Fighter should be on the list? I didn't think it supported a second fire button for anything. One you can definitely add, which has the option to switch controls in the options menu is Tony & Friends In Kellogg's Land.

Retro-Nerd 12 September 2013 15:27

Shadow Fighter ECS/AGA has no 2-button support, you are right. That's why the CD32 version is the best version.

Missing WHDLoad versions with extra buttons:

Ruff'n'Tumble
Mega Twins
1943
Rainbow Islands
Pegasus
Midnight Resistance

Many thanks for contributing guys!
List updated accordingly...

Mr Nutz and John Madden American Football support 2 button joypad too.

SunChild 31 October 2013 02:32

Added! Thank U Retrogamer.

Sandro 31 October 2013 05:53

add the games Yo! Joe! and Dennis to the list

retrogamer 02 November 2013 22:42

I found another one! :p

Nigel Mansell's World Championchip

You can choose 2 button joystick support as JOYSTICK OPTION 4.

SunChild 01 February 2014 10:05

Added, thanks!

Shatterhand 04 January 2015 17:02

Desert Strike had 2 button support even before WHDLoad.

Arabian Nights let you access the item screen with the 2nd button (Usually you would do it by pressing the space bar)

Kick Off 3 REQUIRED a 2 button controller. Kick Off 3:European CHallenge removed this requirement but still supported it.

GXY 27 September 2015 20:05

Hi ppl.

i raise this thread to add a game to the list.

After the War (dinamic) supports 2nd button joystick via WHDload (http://whdload.de/games/AfterTheWar.html) remapping the action (kick) originally mapped to spacebar key

Info founded at spanish forum zonadepruebas. dont know if providing the link to another forum is permitted or not.

(sorry for my inaccurate english, not my native language)

cheers!
