That would be great if you can spend the time on it, i think the game is worth the investigation. My zoned archive has all Flashback Tosec versions in it, rebuilded with the latest dat's.
Following is an up to date list of the filenames with crc's, maybe this helps for Planetemu etc. downloaders. Please everyone, if you played Flashback and it crashed or played fine or ...
please compare with this files/crc's and post your result! This way we can mark the bad disks and the good dumps of this great game. :agree

NOB 10 April 2006 10:07

Dumped my 4 disks of flashback and upped them into the zone.
Maybe you will find some double CRCs or a new [a].

demoniac 10 April 2006 10:50

The problem w/ Interpol's version is that it was released in French. Minstry released an English translation, where the user copies the file to the DOS disks. This leads to infinite checksum possibilties due to system time being different.

Adderly 10 April 2006 11:09

Thanks NOB for contribution. Your disk are:

Fb1.adf : Not in Tosec, temporarily renamed to:
Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 1 of 4)[cr Interpol][h Spreadpower][a NOB].adf 20C292CF

The others are known tosec versions:

Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 2 of 4).adf 8D86E362
Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 3 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +2 Supplex].adf BC251E01
Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 4 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +2 Supplex].adf 98A8BE0A

seems the trainer tag should be removed... Let's wait with the renaming, maybe we get more replies. Did that version works, have you played it?

NOB 10 April 2006 11:49

I have played it, but that was years ago...
So i canĀ“t say if my miggy mates or i have completed it.

BippyM 10 April 2006 12:59

Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 3 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +2 Supplex].adf BC251E01
Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 4 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +2 Supplex].adf 98A8BE0A

I think that the +2 supplex can be removed from these filenames as I'm sure they will work with the non trained versions!

I'm also gonna guess (cuz you guys can do the legwork) that the 2-4th disks are not specific to the interpol cracks (but will work on other fr versions).. maybe this is wrong.. who knows until checked

Overdoc 10 April 2006 13:13

Well, I can add that I have a Interpol cracked version in French, which I played back in 1993 or so, and the problem wasd that the 2nd password protection wasn't cracked properly. Fortunaltely I still have 3 of these disks, so I can transfer and upload them. However, it could be possible they were actually copied from different versions or so....it was all over 10 years ago and I games often didn't work properly and so I copied from different sources ;)

Additionally I have a German version which is copied from the original (password not cracked), and another German one cracked by 'Deceit', which I would have to transfer.

Would these be anything new for you guys ?!

BippyM 10 April 2006 13:35

@Overdoc.. It's worth uploading them all.. If nothing else we can eliminate them from the checks

The uncracked german versions would get a [!] flag to verify that they are original (well once they had been played through and checked to verify)

DamienD 10 April 2006 15:10

What did you guys think about the 2 very minor "graphics" bugs I found in the version I completed?

Do you think it's possible that a file on Disk 2 + Disk 4 is slightly corrupt and therefore copying the affected file from another English version would correct this?

BippyM 10 April 2006 15:13

and would then create another alt!!!

I think it'd be best to check the files and then mark the disks with a [b corrupt file].

We need to find a set that works and then rename that

DamienD 10 April 2006 15:29

Yes, very true :sad

I've just taken a look on PlanetEmu at the available so called "English" sets that I haven't tried yet. Here's some information (based on CRC32's):

... The PlanetEmu "Flashback (1992)(U.S. Gold)[cr Interpol](Disk x of 4)[a]" set is really your renamed "Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk x of 4)[cr Interpol][a2]" set...

...The PlanetEmu "Flashback (1992)(U.S. Gold)[cr Interpol][a2](Disk x of 4)" set is really your renamed "Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk x of 4)[cr Interpol][a3]" set...

No point in testing these then ;)

This means that in terms of English versions, the only sets needed to be tested for completeness are:

1) "Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Disk x of 4)[cr Genetix] [a Adderly]" set.

2) "Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Disk x of 4)[cr Interpol] [a Adderly]" set.

;)

BippyM 10 April 2006 15:40

There is also the versions I have upped (t +1 TRSI). These are NOT in tosec as i do a scan on anything i'm renaming before I start to rename.

Maybe they are simple alts.. but they came from a complete set (together) so they need to remain together.

DamienD 10 April 2006 15:58

Hey bippym,

I saw those ones also, but aren't they (Fr)?

... Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 1 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +1 TRSI].adf 9A9B962A
... Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 2 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +1 TRSI].adf 1E39EA2A
... Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 3 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +1 TRSI].adf 85B3BCFC
... Flashback (1993)(Delphine - U.S. Gold)(Fr)(Disk 4 of 4)[cr Interpol][t +1 TRSI].adf 2F14591D

At the moment given the time it takes to finish the game, I'm only going to try and test English sets (sorry to any French + German people but I'm sure you understand why)

;)

BippyM 10 April 2006 16:12

hmm.. yeah .. my bad ;)

DamienD 10 April 2006 16:17

No problem, easy mistaka-to-maka...

Out of the 2 sets described above for testing, I'll think I'll start with the [cr Genetix] set ;)

BippyM 10 April 2006 16:19

the disk 2's 3's and 4's off these other sets might be interchangeable!!

Usually only the first disk (main exe) is cracked...

Hard to say if it's a crackers fault, but if some files are defect we could at least find that out. I'll scan the disks now.

Not sure if that's true for the reasons below, but I need another English set to change this with...

Also I believe there is protection on Disk 3 + Disk 4, hence the password protection screen that appears after using the Transmitter + Reciever on Levels 5 and 7 :sad

Hmmm, I no expert but not sure if you will find anything corrupt with the files. Probably just that some of the files containing the 2 "possible" graphics are slightly changed but not enough to be a broken file as the game loads ok :sad

Maybe comparing the files might show a slight difference in size or something?

I'm quite possibly wrong though...

yes but checking these files with those that are working will give results that are hopefully favourable ;)

Also comparing them to the files in the SPS release might help...
