Just like with any other hardware: because it exists.

Well, I'm afraid you got me argument wrong... I merely said that one of the reasons people are checking a *different* (key word) retro system is just that: because it exists. Never said you have to get one. ;) BTW: May I remind you, that we're all here on a retro computing site, and if you, or anyone else would think that "the newest = bestest hardware" this site would prolly not exist? And yes, I am also aware of this "sickness" called Nostalgia. |
I really like to get me wrong or is that again one of your super duper mind f*cking games? :p Before this completely goes OT I just said that I don't see why CyberPaint should better than DPaint and that I can compare two retro systems (especially if they are Amiga and ST :cheese) and tell what I think about them ;)

Never mind. I think we're talking about 2 different things here... may I repeat myself? Getting a different retro system, for some people can be fun only because of that - it exists. I don't want you to get it, I have nothing against your comparisons, I never said this Cyber proggie is better then DeluxePaint proggie. |

Oh, I remember now- to say: ST suxxx!! :cheese |
Might be that we're talking about two different things ;) Oh and I let my freudian mistake in my post :D

Yes, you're right about the thing with nostalgia - if you don't like it, why use it?
Well, as a person who never owned a *HUGE* number of different systems, I'd like to get it someday and check it meself just because it exists. ;) Funny thing too, the more the naysayers, the more I want it... oh yeah, that's why I got Vista a few years back... :cheese PS: No Atari ST offers please, lol |

Just to make the view on things even more complicated, I have to say that I really enjoyed two or three games that s2325 posted in the ST exclusive thread a while back :shocked ;) |
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, why must all these threads turn into ST vs Amiga vs PC vs C64 vs Speccy vs Sega vs Nintendo discussion? :)
Now I realized this thread is "Cyber Paint, Atari ST, King of the paint programs," so it could very user friendly and useful retro paint utility, doesnt matter on which system it exists :) |

No, this is not a ST vs Amiga vs PC vs C64 vs Speccy vs Sega vs Nintendo. All other systems are fine since they are not ST. This is no versus. Is a fact. :) |

I assume the fairy was a typo? or are you trying to tell us something? :cheese You are ALL wrong... Acorn Archimedes kicks arse all over the shop.... ST ? STFU :crazy:D:great Just a pity they cocked it up spectacularly..... |
Guys this has gone far too off-topic now I think.

And besides, I was poor and could not afford an Amiga, so I had an Atari ST. Quote:

Sorry that I offended you Fred :sad As I said 'if you have an Amiga'. I agree that the ST isn't that bad and most games are pretty playable on it. Actually there are a few games that are better on the ST than on the Amiga (mainly because the guy that converted it to the Amiga wasn't as skilled as the original coder on the ST). I don't like the word racist, but I can't deny that I'm an Amiga chauvinist ;)

If on the other hand you are a bit more local than your location suggests, this is Scotland mate ;) cant you come up with something a weebit more offensive? :D "Ah yoor a right dick so ye urr!" doesn't quite have the same effect as: "See you, you don't half talk pish ya F****ing C***. Yer maw's/sister's S*ite in bed and so's yer paw, but ah gave him wan tae so he wouldnae feel jealous!" "A right dick" doesn't cut it up here mate :cheese Besides I was only joking... about the ST... Never had one meself, I reckon the ST/Amiga and Archimedes all had their own strengths/weaknesses. Why I say the Arc pissed on both, is simply because at the time, Schools adopted Acorn kit. I think my school had at least 100 Archimedes... one lonely ST in the Music dept and 0 Amigas.... That doesn't mean much except I was exposed to Acorn kit far more than Amigas or ST's. Whatever is/was best (and I don't think there's a clear winner between the three) doesn't really matter now does it? All the Manufacturers went down the Crapper :( Commodore and Acorn Brands have been bought off and now make Pee Cees :( Atari still nominally makes games... thats it. :lol:lol:lol:lol |

As a fairy guy I have to say, ST is good (not "ST isnt bad"). But Amiga is Amiga and once you try it, no chance for ST. If you cant afford good gaming machine Fred, PM me, I am sure we make a deal. It will hurt but there is no progress without pain. |

That a promise? ;) Looking forward to it :laughing :cheese:great |

You stop laughing with flatiron in your mouth you nasty little whore :mad This is too offtopic and I dont wanna continue in it (here :)). ST games are not so colourful and sharp as Amiga games but when you play C64 versions of some Amiga titles and you like them, there is no reason not like ST games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XASnGpemk_M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5ic3Fy-tVY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vorxKkVRhu4 Its up to you to make your own opinion. I was poor too and I am very glad i bought Ami (and spent all my money) and not ST. Its queen of gaming machines :bowdown |
