I know :) So it isn't terribly important, but users could get hold of the .lzx file and not understand why it isn't recognized, which is why I wondered if .zip would do the job here. But again, not really that important.

Btw, is there a chance you could try .zip instead of .lzx. Would be nice to get 100% support ;)

...then that would make it more difficult for "real" Amiga users; especially those with anything under an A1200.

Definitely best to stick with .LHA and .LZX files for the sake of "real" and "emulation" Amiga users :agree

But you use a lot of Toni's WinUAE code in FS-UAE don't you?

.LZX files can be mounted in WinUAE without issue so...

Unless I'm missing something obvious here?

Retroplay 04 March 2020 22:54

There's also the issue that zip isn't 100% safe to use for Amiga files.

For instance, Fightin' Spirit, if zipped goes "bad", not that compressing/decompressing throws any errors but game will crash later on.

I wonder how many "bugs" were reported because of issues like this, quite a lot I'd imagine. :)

FrodeSolheim 04 March 2020 22:59

Alright, I don't want to suggest to make things harder for Amiga hardware owners :) But please continue to prefer .lha over .lzx when possible!

@DamienD Yep, but this is handled in by the Launcher/Arcade which is written in Python, so while not impossible, any .lzx support in those clients will require quite a bit of work to get working.

Ah ok, understand ;)

Well unfortunately you'll need to do that extra bit of work in order to support those very rare WHDLoad .LZX archives, which are necessary, in your FS-UAE Launcher / Arcade.

...otherwise just leave these WHDLoad .LZX archives out of the database completely I guess.

Of course all of this is totally your own choice; and no one should disagree with your decision (unless they have the skills and are prepared to do better themselves) ;)

That's not gonna change, lzx is a last resort when, in some rare cases, lha acts up.

I will add support for them in the database itself regardless though :) So the database will be 100% complete soon. If Launcher users have the files decompressed already or stored in another archive format, it will work. (And maybe the Launcher will be able to read .lzx in the future).

easy to answer, nobody added database entries and screenshots/boxscans ;)

thevoice 14 March 2021 17:21

the database for whdload installs is updated to some point in march 2021 now.

pucci 14 March 2021 18:15

checked

all whdloads up to 12/03/2021 (inclusive) have been inserted into the database

whdloads of 14/03/2021 are not updated in the database:
  • FinalBlow_v1.1_2457
  • KingsQuestEnhanced_v1.3_1436
  • Paramax_v2.0_2184
  • Troddlers_v1.2_Files_0696
  • Troddlers_v1.2_Image_0696
  • WildStreets_v1.1_1678

this game (released 12/03/2021) is totaly missing from the database:
  • TempleOfEnlightenedSouls_v1.0

FrodeSolheim 15 March 2021 00:38

I created updated variants yesterday (Saturday) based on Retroplays latest set as of then (from the EAB FTP).

About The Temple of the Enlightened Souls, that game did not exist in the database. I've created an entry now and attached the WHDLoad variant: https://openretro.org/amiga/the-temp...ned-souls/edit

pucci 15 March 2021 07:15

Thank you. I notice that also this doesn't exist in the database.
