Dance Nation (Captain's pop band from 90s). IIRC Captain made Dance Nation's music with Music-X on Amiga and they made a music video with Real3D on Amiga 4000 etc. Captain plays now in the famous Poets of the Fall band...

And here's the video ;) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjw2DZbIWWk

Didn't Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel use Amigas on some of their albums?

jPV 07 May 2016 21:26

Although the page concentrates more to video production, but some mentions about music use too: http://wigilius.se/amiga/

At least in the People section.

I remember some interview where he was proud of his self made arexx script that downloaded patches to his synths over midi. :-)

I have Captain's old A3000 as my main Amiga. A friend of mine was working at Man&Man when Captain traded the 3000 in for a new 4000. That friend then bought the 3000 for himself, eventually the machine ended up in my use.

Mike Oldfield did use Amiga too, mentioned in this interview http://www.innerviews.org/inner/oldfield.html

Leffmann 08 May 2016 10:48

He calls the Amiga "primitive" in that interview. I'm not listening to any more of his music.

I'm sure I read in a Danish Amiga Magazine that the German eurodance band Snap made their music on the Amiga. According to WIKI Snap was a successor to 16 Bit already mentioned.

Maybe he had some simple music software and no time to enjoy Amiga.

Holy crap my eyeballs are burnt out now.

My band Organ Grinder from 2012 used an A1200 and MusicLine Editor for it's rhythm section.

Our only release, a seven track EP has recently been uploaded to Aminet.

Tigerskunk 04 November 2016 18:16

A lot of 90ies Breakbeat and Jungle used Amigas.

I guess that makes the Amiga kind of the Tr-909 of Jungle.... ;)

For music, compared to what was available at the moment, it was. That is, for the people like him who could AFFORD something like a super expensive E-Mu sampler or a bunch of synths.

For the plebs like us, Amiga was revolutionary in bringing the chance of building an all-in-one home studio system at an affordable price.

I remember reading in a ZERO mag that Tim Simenon (Bomb the Bass) and S-Express used Commodore machine's for music. As ZERO was a 16-bit magazine, must have been the Amiga

For those into 90s rave and techno

Hardsequencer - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardy_Hard
For those in Australia and into rave and techno
Nasenbluten - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasenbluten
DJ Steve Reaver - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuudEFEcwEM (skip to 3 minutes in to see him in action). His biggest track IMO was this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fmHvfkNT98

Tigerskunk 07 November 2016 13:42

The somewhat famous dutch electronic act LegoWelt is prominently using the Amiga with OctaMed for doing tracks.

He even named some of his tracks something with "Amiga" like this one:
