Heres another one: Turrican 2 mod

jaycee 17 September 2006 01:14

There WAS Turrican 2 music produced in MOD format, for the PC version of the game. This was done by w.o.t.w and sounds pretty damn accurate considering he had to lose 3 channels :)

Have been trying to find an MP3 of the original Turrican 2 soundtrack and couldn't find any that hadn't been remixed. So I got the original TFMX file and converted it myself.

I've uploaded it here for anyone else. Its large (16MB) as I converted it to 320kbps.

Enjoy :great

Thorham 27 November 2007 19:45

Thought I'd do a little search on the net, and I found a rather nice music disk with all the original Turrican 1 and 2 music on it (ripped from the game, including the player code). It's for ecs and 68000 only, probably, and is a bit awkward to use, but it's all there, and works perfectly with winuae. I've put it in the zone in case anyone wants to try it (TurricanMusicDisk.zip).

The following text is the instructions from the programs scroll text (ripped, thats why it's all caps, sorry):

INSTRUCTIONS..... TO TOGGLE BETWEEN THE UPPER AND THE LOWER MENU... PRESS THE RIGHT MOUSEBUTTON. YOU CAN CHOOSE A SONG OR SONGMODULE BY PRESSING THE LEFT MOUSEBUTTON.

Hi torf,

I think the musicdisk Thorham mentioned is this : http://www.planetemu.net/index.php?s...owrom&id=98338
I have it and it's really good (try to get the original tfmx modules here : http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Turri...he_Final_Fight)

Hope this helps

I registered myself only to thank this guy for his great post :bowdown
If anyone is interested I made a stereo mix from the original format which you can download here: Link.
It is made from the original file I downloaded from BeelzebubUK, I copied both left and right track to a second stereo track and then inserted a 20 milisecond silence at the beginning for the left synth track and the right bass track for the stereo effect.
The result is rather satisfying if I say so myself :D
Let me know what you think!

Thought I'd take a look at this thread as its been a while. Glad you found the file useful.

Downloaded your version and it does sound very nice.....seems a bit crisper than mine which I like. I play it through my HTPC out to my cinema surround system and its lovely :)

Blah! The MP3 "rips" surprisingly suxx. Sound's too flat, no bases or heights...

Yet do not panic! Turrican II TMFX songs are well-playable with the WinAMP and TMXF plugin. With the v1.25 one can merge the mdata and create one TFM file (as well, as register these nex filetypes with WinAMP, using v5.35) and edit the subtracks!!!

Alt + 3 = fileinfo and you can change the subtracks! Now just to edit all these according to the game (lenght has to be set manually) and we will have complete soundtrack!

Sounds almost too good to be true? Yep, but it is. The old v0.0.0.8 in_tmfx.dll was kinda outdated (1999) - new we have new toys :)

Including the plugin and give me some time to finish the Turrican II tracks... screwed up something in World 2, so... :o

BTW, it plays all the subsongs in order, so you did not miss any boss song or level end "song" anymore :) Powerslide (the fast rocket fly music) rulez!
(World 3, Concerto for laser and enemies, track 7)

Done.

Dummy ones entries must have non-zero time value and the Heart beat is not really a song, so if you want the creepy sounds, just Alt + 3 and find them, they are tracks 7 and 8 in the World 5 file.

Enjoy! ;)

PS. MP3 taken for record from this site: http://downloads.khinsider.com/game-...-fight-gamerip
And do they suxx!
I qess the Lame encoder must be wrongly configured and mainly - the source must be weird. I use diskwrite to wav first, when I encode something from Amiga to MP3... That is quality somewhere else. No more crappy sound...
And I'm demanding, just check this: http://capsmod.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=478

Old version of the TMFX plugin: http://ax2.old-cans.com/tfmx/

Amiga1992 14 September 2012 01:36

Why would you even use Winamp? Use XMPlay.
I don't know what those TFM files are that you posted, but they don't work (and TFM is a music format of TFM Music Maker). Just pinch the original files from eXotica:
http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Turri...he_Final_Fight

lilalurl 14 September 2012 07:28

The tracks do work in Winamp + the new plugin that trodas attached. At least from the quick listening I had.

They don't work in deliplayer though, which is probably because of the modifications he made and hence the need for a new plugin.

Btw, the Capsmod link seems to be only for people who are registered there.

Amiga1992 14 September 2012 12:01

The tracks he posted have been tampered with and that shouldn't happen because they are not running in any TFMX player I have, Amiga included.

Why would you go all the way to do that when XMPlay plays them right off the bat and without issues? It's not good to distribute around hacked versions of things that don't really work as they should.
