I'm unable to check links atm.

Will this card work?

D-Link Air

DWL-650

Jope 05 November 2006 08:51

No.

Since this is becoming a FAQ, I took a picture to help you narrow down the choices.

This is also now a sticky thread, please keep all Amiga-compatible network adapter discussions in this thread. :-)

Thank you for pinning this topic Jope.

D-Link DWL-650 is 16 bit card. No metal plate and even on the back of card it shows 16bit sign.

Thanks alexh. I noted that after I posted it and after I checked local stores.

I will be looking into this more as soon as I figure out HD first.

Ah, it seems the site I googled up had the wrong picture.. No big surprise there. Sorry 'bout the misinformation.

Now it's just left up to you to try it..

I will as soon as resolve HD problems. :)

Thank you for help.

any info on what software to use
any help would be greatful

Zetr0 29 April 2007 23:50

okay...

Network access:

For the amiga requires SAMBA (download), its easy to setup and allows it to communicate with the Wintell pc's on your network

heres how http://www.amigau.com/c-networking/samba.htm

OR / AND

Amiga Explorer read more (and download) http://www.amigaforever.com/ae/

Gateway:
Well you allready have this, the ROUTER address is the Gateway

make sure that all the devices all share the same sub-net mask of 255.255.255.0 (should be what its set for)

this should help.

if you want to max out your networking capability via the PCMCIA port,
you can use the Netgear FA411 10/100Mb card. i've had this working on 100Mb connection (not indicative of real xfer rate), with the latest version of the cnet16.device

but the girlfriend prefers i use a wireless solution (amigakit branded netgear FA401 11Mb) ;) :D

I suppose this is the right place for the question:

I've got G-Rex running on rev. 2 Blizzard, I can see the Reltek 8139 card in the (hold escape on booting) Blizzard Screen, I think I can see it on the Amiga boot screen (both mouse buttons down on booting), and in sysinfo, I've flashed the Blizard with the most update verion on http://grex.amigaworld.de/index.php?lang=en&page=15

But when setting up Genesis with the driver files from OpenPCI http://bvernoux.free.fr/DevPCI.php with the PCI Library installed, it always fails to obtain lock on the PCI card...

Hmm...

What can I do? Would it be easier to just get a 8029 based card? Also I havn't got a Graphics card yet, so other than seeing the card in the things listed above, I've not got it todo anything useful yet.

Help!

PS thinking about it, I have seen it in the PCI scan Program downloaded from the first link above

amigarobbo 29 July 2007 22:20

Well to answer my own question, Get a 8029 based card, that worked first time.

I am using a Microsoft MN-520 PCMCIA card. It has a prism chipset and it works perfectly on my A1200, no problems at all.

Where could I find the compatibility list ?!
Full list of pcmcia cards tested with Amiga600/1200 ?

alexh 18 December 2007 19:13

There isnt one. This is the closest thing.

@alexh

Already found that site.
But thanks anyway, alexh !

Hi all, my first post here.

I'm looking for a tcp/ip solution to transfert my PC->Amiga files, I have an A1200 with original case, OS/ROM 3.0 and I'm waiting for Blizzard 1230/IV card.

Do you know if this item on eBay would be a great solution ?
http://cgi.ebay.fr/Netzwerkkarte-PCM...QQcmdZViewItem

I'd like to use it with AExplorer, or may be with the software with the card if it's great.

What do you think ?

Thanks !

Jope 26 December 2007 14:25

The price is not too bad, although Amiga compatible cards can be had for less.

It will work. You just need a TCP/IP-stack (or do you, I couldn't be bothered to try and decipher the german)

Philyon 27 December 2007 18:28

Thanks you for your answer. But finally I bought a pcmcia compact flash adapter, more simple to use with my pc. ;)
