Game Icons for Windows

Hi all.

I run Windows Vista, and I'd like to have just icons on my desktop, that if I doubleclick, runs the disk images automatically. I dont want to have to see the WinUAE preferences screen at all.

The reason I ask for this simplicity, is that I'd like my 5 and 3 year old kids to be able to jump on, doubleclick a game, then pick up the joystick and go. As easy as it used to be for me, when I ran Amigas.

Can anyone please help?

Cheers - G

- Make a config. file with everything setup (including the path to the disk images).
You might need to plan a bit and maybe use the disk swapper if you plan to use games with a lot of disks (although I suppose games for young kids will probably have only 1 or 2 disks). Same goes with cracktros/trainers if there are some ; you might want to show your kids they need to click here or there when the trainer screen appear.

- Untick 'Show GUI on startup' (second box in Host/Miscellaneous) and save the config file

- Make a shortcut to winuae on the Vista desktop with the -f <configfile> parameter and then customize your icon (I suppose you know how to do that part. If not, just ask)

For reference, on command line parameters:

Command line parameters, rezipping, savestates?

It would be a nice feature for Toni to implement - Save config and create shortcut icon from within WinUAE

I slightly similar thing I requested a little while ago that Toni fixed up in the most recent beta was to use savestates instead. Set up the options, put in the disk, and run the emulator. That way you can wait until the pre-game loading is finished, and you're at the title screen before saving the state.
