Hi there, have a VERY good condition Amiga600 with 4gb CF HD for WHDLoad gaming along with 2mb ChipRAM and 2mb FastRAM. My question is how often, if ever should I replace the Capacitors? My knowledge of this is very little, but I see on AmigaKit they offer this service. I'd like to keep my little A in good condition and prevent future problems, so any advice on if it's worht it, or other tips would be FAB!!

well.i would say once.

considering an amiga is about 20 years old.you dont need to do this very often.

if the capacitors of Surface-mount motherboard need to be replaced it's only because Commodore made some "economic" cuts on mobos by using capacitors made for a certain solder method and solder it with the other method (way toooo hot) and damaged the capacitors.

now, if the replacing is done, and well done, by a good technician, with the right capacitors (beware, there are "capacitors kits with color doc..." for sale elsewhere that aren't really good ones), replacing only need to be done once in an smd Amiga lifetime :-)

(I have such good capacitors in stock and do Amiga repairs since 1992) ^^
