[Paula chip] 8364R7 vs. 8364R7PD

My A500 has an 8364R7, but a friend of mine gave me all the chips from his broken A500+... Is it worth putting some of them in my A500?

The A500+ Paula chip I got has the PD suffix at the end, is this one better in any way? Less interference??

My A500 chips have the '89 datecode while the A500+ chips have '91. Do you think the '91 ones are more reliable? I'll keep the '89 Denise for compatiblity, and the A500+ Fat Agnus has a different pinout.

The newest Denise have the extra half-bright screenmodes, it does not clash with anything (games & other software included).

Different Paula versions doesn't have anything really different but the code label, that's the only chip that never changed from the A1000 era to the last A4000T!

The Fatter Agnus may be used if you buy a NTSC MegAchip, so you can replace that Agnus to your PAL unit.

EHB was already implemented by the time the PAL version of the A1000 made the market. The A500+ super denise has higher refresh rates available, but EHB is available in every single A500 and A2000.

Nope.

As has already been said, you might be able to use/sell the 2Mbyte Fat Agnus chip for use with a Mini Megi/MegAChip.

Are you sure? I was told that only the ECS Denise can handle 64 colours on the screen.

Then someone told you nonsense. EHB is not an ECS feature, only the very first NTSC A1000's lack the EHB mode.

ECS Denise support SHires, some genlock stuff etc, all OCS are EHB and HAM capable.
