First Bit of Amiga Hardware....
... and its not an Amiga
![]() it is, however, a Typhoon Mk 2 - 68030@40 + 32MB Acccellerator board for the A1200. No fresh Pr0n... although I will linky to the Amibay thread where Zetr0 has pr0nulated on it ![]() Now I intend getting a 64 meg simm for it whilst I'm waiting on my Miggy... My next "wondering" is directed towards the empty FPU slot.... Is it worth my while getting a 68882 chip to populate this slot ? Seen a few on ripoff bay from the US for... rather a lot. cheers Andrew |

Congrats on your purchase! Roll-on an A1200 to put it in...
68882: TBH There's very little Amiga software that makes use of such a beastie, so I'd suggest spending your money on higher priority stuff first... ...Yes, 'fast' 68882's go for stupid (*cough* rip-off!) sums of money. Here's a tip: *ALL* known 68882's will run @ the max rated frequency (50mhz) regardless of what's written on the chip package - So apart from making sure you've got the correct package for your socket, save yourself some money & buy the cheapest one you can find. NB 68881's DON'T overclock at all! |

Charlie
thanks for the info... the 68882 can wait a while then. I think I've abused my funding sources enough for starters. cheers Andrew |
