FORGET about disks, you have WHD installs When I got my expanded 1200, I started to know Codyjarret's words were wise words (Oh wise one )... the best Amiga gaming platform is an A1200 with an 030 accelerator, 32MB of RAM and a hard disk. You can play anything you want from that HD, without waiing for games to load!

So my pick would be:

- A1200
- 030 accelerator at, if possible, 50Mhz, and best if you get an FPU for the demos that require it. If demos are your kind of thing, of coz.
- HD... 1GB minimum
- 32MB SIMM of RAM for the accelerator

I'd go for that system, just like mine, its a dream

My example is not to be taken because I got quite a good deal, and Galahad gets the best deals around, methinks But I´d say 200 dollars would be a fine price. Depends on yoru location and all that. PErhaps Retroman wants to give his value

*cough* That´s ... *cough* *cough* .... a very high price *cough* I would pay half of it for the above system, but thats because here in germany, these system are quite common and not so high in price But I think if I would live in the UK, 150 Pound seem to be a good deal (just looked at http://www.ebay.co.uk )

P.S : It´s better to get the parts than going for a complete system, you would save much money

//update : have a look, maybe this is something for you Amiga 1200 hardware for Sale

Here is my personal experience:

I use my A1200 for WHDload/HD games and transferring files from my PC using PCtoAmiga, that's it. No demos. No newer titles (eg Alien Breed 3D)

My A1200 with 320MB HD and 4MB fast ram is perfect for WHDLoad games - you don't need an accelerator unless your into more serious applications, newer titles (after 1995 say) or, like Akira said, AGA demos.

The only thing I need is a larger hard drive, although all my important games fit onto the 320MB, ideally I require at least 512MB minimum.

Recently I bought a 2gig seagate HD for £15 and an 8MB simm for 89 pence so these kind of upgrades are inexpensive.

Now my A1200 has 8MB fast and a 2 Gig HD. That's me happy.

Bottom line, minimum specs I'd accept since money is an issue:

A1200, 300MB+ HD, 4MB fast RAM, software, Joysticks etc. all for under £80 inc P&P

or as above, but with an 030 accelerator fitted and little more RAM/HD space - under £120

Any upgrades for these machines (HD or RAM) are DIRT cheap.

Hope this helps.
