Catweasel floppy issues

Can someone give me a detailed description on how to properly install the Catweasel MK4? I can only get the joystick/mouse ports to work but the floppy drives are useless the way they are now.

I have read many instructions on how to do this but they are all vague, especially with creating the dos driver. How do I do this??

Currently the pc floppy is useless with it connected to the CW.. apparently the next lot of drivers will hopefully fix this!
So.. if you have your floppy connected to the CW and a cable from there to your mobo.. then you can`t use the floppy atm..
You have to have two floppies.. one connected to the CW and one connected from the mobo if you want to have a pc floppy and a CW floppy working in the same machine

With the Catweasel floppy drive, how would I use the image tool to get adf images off of it? I tried doing it last night but it wouldn't work for me.

In what way didn`t it work ? Remember it only mainly works on unprotected floppies.. cracked games etc.. and dos disks.. iirc it doesn`t like copyprotected tracks etc..
Just put the disk in.. hit read on the imagetool.. then save it to your hdd once it`s complete...

In the current configuration of my floppy drives that I have now, a ribbon cable comes from the motherboard to the catweasel. A ribbon cable then comes from the catweasel to my floppy drives.

I opened up Image Tool in Windows. I hit read, and it said "error: cannot read sectors" or something. I forget exactly what it said, but I can check on my computer once I get home.

Well it could be just a duff disk! you can have it connected to the mobo and not have it connected.. shouldn`t make any difference with the tool.

I know the disk works on my A1000. It's just a workbench 1.3 disk. So it can't be the disk. It's gotta be something else.

What happens with other good known working disks with the imagetool ??

Hi,

The supplied image tool software sometimes attempts to read disks before the drive has spun up... This can cause all sorts of read/write/verify errors.

To remedy that, when reading or writing a disk, start the operation, then stop it after about a second or two. Then retry the operation and your disk should be read/written properly.

It's a bit of a pain! All it needs is a short delay after spinning the drive and before the software accesses the disk. Hopefully, this'll be sorted in a future version.

True.. I had those exact same problems with the drive not spinning up..
I have started using the older 107 image tool ( one without the verify option ) and it works ok for me now!
