Scoopex releases....

....Zoom! from Discovery Software.

This is a game from 1988 that was never properly cracked, maybe out of respect to the guys involved, but now that has been rectified.

Tested on a real A500 and in WinUAE, game operates as it should.

Thanks to Barry for the MFM image of the game.

Game had some very nice copy protection ideas, was a worthwhile challenge.

All decryption and self modified code has been removed, and game *might* now work on other machines other than 68000.

Its in the zone by the way

I had a version that was like a pre-release, with poor graphics and was much different than this one. This has better sprites, better panel and colors, and intro.

I mean, being a WinUAE user I just use .IPF file

...but this is very cool for real Amiga users and from what you've said, you put a bit of work into this.

Yeah i wasnt confident it would work on anything above a500 1.3, old game written in C and not respecting anything beyond that.

Various levels of encryption code, illegal opcode, self modifying code, a strange track..

MFM disk format, encryption, self modifying code that sneakily setup variables in key parts of memory, protection track read which also built up a special table in memory which meant game would not work without and checksums.

And the game code was written in C and it was VERY tight on memory to find space for loaders.

I'm with you on this one; me loves cracktro

...and this is enough reason for me to ditch the .IPF and use this .ADF with cool cracktro

Good effort. Self-modifying code is a bit of a mind-bender on its own!
