Creating Hard Files

Hello,

Could I ask how you create a new HardDisk file in WinUAE? I'm on 3.4.0

I click on CDs and Hard Disks, click add HardFile, Type 50 into the MegaBytes Box and click create. The drive appears, but I can't see how to save it. If I click on properties, then path that seems to be for loading a HD file rather than saving one.

Thanks

When you click on Create, it should open a file requester where you enter a name for the new HDF and click on Save.

Hi Thomas. Thanks for the reply. It's not doing this. I'm using the portable version.

Update..

I just installed the install version and the file requester appears fine. Is this a bug with the portable version?

I have now checked the portable version on three machines and I still get the same happening, as in no file dialogue.

The zip version that doesn't need the installer. [zip-archive (64-bit)]

Ok. It just sounded weird for me because it is exact same executable

Does 32-bit version work? If yes, it sounds like the usual: buggy shell extension that breaks dialogs in 64-bit. (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=80216)

I think this was probably me being foolish. I didn't realise that the 64Bit zip file only contains the .exe file. So you need to download both the 32bit and 64bit versions then copy in the .exe file to the originally downloaded folder.

winuae.exe is all you need. The other stuff is just accessory, but not required.

Thanks for the Thomas. Well the 32 bit version works fine, so the 64bit issues I was experiencing must be for the reasons that Toni highlighted earlier. Peter
