Thanks to this thread I am now playing on VistaPro. For those who remember, I restored my 30 year old 50 backup floppies that had been sitting in my parents' attic in London, to my A500+ CF card hard disk (only 2 flopsies had failed.) And in my files were my original VistaPro .scape file that I used to fly around and render. Takes a little longer on my unaccelerated A500 than my Amiga did when I had the GVP A530, but the waiting passes the time!...

oh yeah, the render time. in the 90s i made some lightwave animation, a ship flying through kinda spiral tunnel. took hours to render 120 frames.
but things have not changed, now with lightwave 2015 - on my 3.2 ghz quadcore you can setup scenes which takes days to render.
and dont forget to upload your Vista animation into the zone or ftp

The more things change...

I'm just doing static scenes at the moment but if anything cool comes out I'll upload it!

i found two ascii art anims. use more in cli/shell and then press "space" to animate.
the above is not very impressive, maybe the wrong text viewer.
there were more impressive anims which uses special ESC-sequences in the text file.
does anyone know where to find them and which textviewer wwe have to use?

Mostly playing games. I do enjoy the novelty of browsing the web (badly) but it's just a bit of fun. I do however now download most things on my Amiga rather than transferring.

Not wanting to stray off topic but do you have any examples of what that is? I'm not familiar.

An unsecure connection doesn't work. So I installed AmiSSL v1 and rebooted. No dice, same error in AWeb, then AWeb states that a TCP stack must be started first. Even if I try to run AmiSSL from the folder it creates I get:

Miami 2.x or higher or a compatible TCP/IP protocol stack has to be started first.
Any help here about what TCP stack to use would be great. Getting blue balls.

AFAIK there is no way to use SSL on the Amiga since the SSL version supported by AmiSSL is too old. AmiSSL needs to be updated but that hasn't happened yet for 68k. So we are stuck with just HTTP.

Actually, there is a workaround to improve compatibility in AmiSSL.
Code:
setenv save AmiSSL/SSL_CLIENT_VERSION tls1

Sorry for the ignorance but does this go in the user-startup?

As to my other issue, what TCP stack do you recommend?

Thanks!!

Theres some examples on Youtube:

LibAA and LibCaca are libraries for rendering bitmap input to text, theres a bunch of software that uses it.

If you grab MPlayer you can build it with both LibCaca and LibAA -vo's, so yes ASCII Art Pr0n is at hand.

I usually browse aminet on my pc, then look at the url when I hover my mouse over. Than use wget in the shell on my Amiga to download.
