Question Any utilities to shrink or stretch WB bg pics?

Are there any utilities that will stretch a Workbench background picture so that it takes up the entire screen? I tried looking on Aminet, but I couldn't find anything quite matching the description. (Maybe I didn't use the right search times, but I did try several times...) Naturally, the aim is to have this done automatically, rather than have to go into a graphics program and do it manually.

I am so accustomed to having this property built into W!ndoze (center/tile/stretch) that I take it for granted.

So, what percentage of AF/WinUAE users figure that OS 3.5+ is a worthwhile purchase? How much is it going for anyway? And is it even compatible at all, or worthwhile to run under emulation?

If you have access to a Winblows machine then resample your image to your Workbench's size, then send it back to your miggy. It's the best you can do, I think1

Are you offended that I am using Winblows? The mere fact that I mentioned AF (Amiga Forever, commercial emulation package) as well as WinUAE should have hinted to that effect.

There's gfx packages on the Amiga that can "re-sample" a picture's size. And the W2k machines at work that I use no longer even support the "stretch" option on the desktop, so I assume it's probably gone from NT and XP systems, as well.

Not at all... And since I don't lameulte, AF means pish all to me (except for Amiga Format )

The method I described is the one I use meself, since the paint packages I got in my miggy do not give the results I like. Any recommendations, Twist?

I've used win98,98SE,ME,2k and XP. They can all stretch a background pic. My 3.9 setup can do it as well. Here is a screenshot from win2k.

Hmmm...dunno why none on the W2k machines at work allow for this. Perhaps only Admin logins have this ability?

@Akira
Have you tried Photogenics? I haven't ever looked at PPaint, but I would imagine it should be able to do this, as well.

PPaint I tried, but the results on low color pics are not good. Antialiasing is just not good enough. That's why I take them to Fireworks, increase the color depth, resample, then reduce the color depth again. They look great that way

I run an Amiga that has no gfx card. :/

2k and XP machines at our school don't allow changing the settings of this window unless logged in as an admin, but background picture can be changed via ACDSee and browser's function.

Exactly. I can set the background pic at work via ACDSee, but I can't go in and choose the Stretch function on the desktop prefs. Also, after a reboot the background pic is gone.
