I prefer a a new production of blizzard 1240/40mhz instead the 1260/50mhz
was far better and compatible than the blizzard 1260, just was a bit slow 38 mips vs 30 mips but ideal for MAC emulation
and everything else

The blizzard 040/ppc I think is yet better, but I don't know it really because I never had one

Never found any use for 040 personally, when I got it all I wanted was 060...
In my opinion, these days there's no point making anything less than 060 for "high-end" accelerators.

Besides, for anyone wanting to enjoy demo-scene productions, 99% of them require 060 since the late 90's.

I had 040 and never wanted 060. The main problem was compatibility. Maybe things have changed now, but I'd still go for 040.

A SCSI card that works correctly with 70/80mhz Blizzard 1260s would be nice.

Only with some very old games did I ever have any kind of compatibility issues with my blizzard 1260 and i certainly wouldn't have chosen an 040 over the 060 just to get them working with the card, it was easy to temporarily disable the accelerator anyway if need be. 060 all the way for me and if this story turns out to be true then it's good news for amiga users.

Actually when using WHDLOAD i had more speedup "timing" issues with the blizz 1240 than the 1260 Apollo and BPPC . I went so mad at the 040 that i sold it because of one game...

I remain skeptical for now, but I do remember Jens mentioning something "big" being planned regarding the Amiga Reloaded. Its far fetched maybe, but new 1260 Blizzards to go along with the Reloaded mobo might be something Jens could support, seeing how this whole Vampire business seems to steer clear off Individual Computing...

I'm interested in seeing whether they can get those ancient parts in large quantities.

They can post as much as they want, to get the people believe them they will have to present some product for real. When that happens i'm in to believe they are back.

You are true Akira.

But I keep wondering -as I hadn't any answer- what do you believe is a reasonable price for a new B1260, 400€?

Price and availability are what make a development a success.

Another thing: Can they make as many cards as they want to or do they have a limited amount of chips for that (limited production)?

Wait and see. It will be a pleasant surprise if it happens - if not then we have many great amiga products right now, Vampire, A1200 re-loaded; so it's all good.

I remember when they announced the blizzards G3 and G4 for the A1200

http://www.amiga-news.de/de/news/AN-...-00265-DE.html

perhaps I would have bought one at that time because the 603e ppc cpus on the blizzards were so slow for the time, those athlon and pentium 3 in the PC were 10x fast

in 1999/2000 for the money of 1 blizzard ppc you could purchase a full PC+ 17 inch monitor
so dont ask why they end up in bankrupt

today the market is different, they not have to compete with PCs or new hardware, their market is 100% retro, so surely they can build old cards again, don't expect new designs , just bug fixes or little enhancements
