cannot find opalvision in rtgboards/expansion - it has no autoconfig IDs,
how to enable it?
OpalVision is not Zorro board. It is video slot board. Chipset -> video port display hardware.

The peculiar thing is that if I lower the soundcard latency setting to 256, then winuae setting 512 will work. If I lower soundcard latency setting to 128 then WinUAE setting 256 upwards will work. I just seems odd that with equivalent sizes it hangs or produces no sound.

This also never happens with any of the other sound modes (wasapi, dsound, asio, wdm-ks all are fine), which makes it odd that only wsapi-ex is affected by this.

But then again maybe it is a driver issue...

You can try forcing crash dump when it hangs and attaching it. (task manager -> select winua.exe > create dump file. Use 32-bit version.
OK, Ill try this...

I've uploaded the crash dump here:

http://www.megafileupload.com/g51l/winuae_dmp.zip

You may need to click twice on the " free download" button, but speed should be ok.

Hopefully the crashdump sheds some more light on the issue.

Edit: seems to be something wrong with the download, I'll try something else.

It is waiting for sound buffer to empty (wasapi event) that probably is never happening. It may not fully hang but most likely slows down emulation very heavily.

Download worked for me.

OK. Too bad that this seems to be a driver issue then, only affecting the wasapi-ex mode :-/ It's not too bad though, since sound panel setting of 512 and winuae setting 3 (768) work fine. So I'm happy with that..

Thanks for investigating.

Btw, what is currently the lowest realistically "working fine" wasapi-ex sound setting in low latency vsync mode according to your experience?

Do you see very colorful OpalVision logo when opalpaint starts or black box? Probably black box = config and logs as usual. EDIT: Check also filter settings, some filters modes will break opalvision.

emufan: If you have set WinUAE to crop part of the Amiga image, you could have cropped out the OpalVision control line at the top of the screen.

It is not my job to look at the log, also because I'm not capable, I tested your config (a bit slow) and it worked on Display Windowed i used 800x600.

The screenshot you uploaded is 660×524 pixels which is less than the 752×576 pixels which the Amiga outputs. Where is the rest of the image?

oh, yes, i crop and color-reduce them using a paint program, to reduce the file size a bit

this is really a strange thing. which version of winuae are u using? i have here beta 11 2016/10/10 (winuae.7z).
yours look older, since the "genlock connected" is still on top right of the chipset config screen.

#1) i've tested
hxxp://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae_3400b10.7z
hxxp://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae_3400b11.7z
both have the same result, opalvision does not work on my machine

I used beta 10 2016/10/6, soon as possible to do a test with beta 11, meanwhile play around with my config attached.

Switch off all filter options. "no scaling". Not default or anything else.

hmm, it is about the window size. Display -> Windowed
when i start with 800x600 OpalVision works.
when i resize the window to maybe 814x616 OpalVision loosing its colors.
if i reduce the window size again, OpalVision is colored again.
windows size of 458x346 is also without colors.

test done with the config above.

can you reproduce that?

#1) but all depends on Filter [mask] [no overlay available] [no scaling]
if no scaling is enabled, Opalvision works , no matter what window size i use.

#1) yep, thats it, thanks for all help

#2) one more: if you switch in Filter from [no scaling] to [Manual] it still works.
but you now also get a scaled display, if you make the emu-window larger - better for those old eyes
