Windows / MAC computer don't have the same file attributes so if you copy from one of these computers and say a file had "Script" set then it must get lost?

Isn't this the same issue that people have sometimes with WHDLoad files i.e. extracting on a computer as opposed to an Amiga?

In the scheme of things, issues with file attributes and long filenames are rare and only ever seem to occur with .zip archives. The rule-of-thumb solution is to avoid .zip and use .lha instead when transferring stuff from PC to Amiga. It's the very reason why Retroplay ditched .zip and started using .lha for all the WHDLoad uploads he makes to the EAB server.

Personally, I use .rar or .7z when transferring stuff from PC to Amiga (as they often have much better compression than .lha or .zip), and can't say I've ever had a problem. Has anyone had any issues with either here? If not, then maybe the solution is just to avoid using .zip period with Ami stuff.

Well as an exercise, I extracted the Center Court 2 files on my PC using WinRAR, copied them to my FAT SD card, ran from there and just fine. Then I copied this folder to my Amiga HD and it again ran fine. So whatever was happening to this guy, was his own issue, maybe/probably having to do with his choice of file extractor? No idea.
I find that the "unpack only in Amiga" camp can be over-zealous about the issue and it doesn't always hold true. There are cases where it is (like with weird filenames as I mentioned before) but usually it's fine.

Then again, Amiga CDs conform to CD filesystem standards, so they shouldn't have Amiga-specific attributes on them. Here is a screenshot showing attributes for different files on a Microcosm CD I have, and despite some being data and one being an exe, they all have the same flags on.

So I again think copying from a PC with a CD drive would work just fine. And if you are SUPER ANAL about it, mount the disk on a PC using WinUAE and then copy from within the Amiga environment into an LHA file or whatever. You still don't need an A1200 with a CD drive.

+1 for using ZIP to compress Amiga files being a stupid idea, LHA all the way.

@buzzybee

don't get me wrong, I'm sure the game well worth its price and I'll eventually buy it anyway, I was just assuming that by getting the postage cost out, it'd become cheaper for ppl like me who don't really need the extra stuff.

You can perfectly read the CD-ROM on an PC or MAC and transfer the content to theHD of a real Amiga. In fact thats one of the methods I used when developing and testing RESHOOT.

One could even copy most of the contents – minus the loading the picture – onto one 3.5"-disk and run the game from there. RESHOOT is prepared for that. Its explained in the manual.

Is there a photo of the final case somewhere.
I feel im the opposite of some ppl who want digital copy only.
Even if this game wasnt exactly down to my taste ill consider buying it as a collectors item because... Well, because I collect stuff ;-)
But then Id like to know if the packaging looks like a proper retail product of it "looks home printed". No offense.

Looks great guys, I've put my money where my mouth is and ordered a copy, and supported the first new CD32 compatible game in 18 years!

Hope others follow and support you to bring another game to the CD32!

What are the sales numbers for Tanks Furry? Does anyone know? Granted, the cheap price made it an impulse purchase for even the poorest of souls, like me! I'll have to wait for a while before I can buy reshoot.
~400 :-)

thanx! big suprise for us when the game is available for free on aminet!

They mentioned above 'after gamescom' which ends 21/8, so next week I guess shipping starts.

That's a good number. It gives an indication of potential sales numbers for boxed Amiga games.
