Getting The Amiga Back Out There

I'm not sure any of the remaining Amiga companies are in a position to realize this idea but I think there's a place in the current market for a new/retro Amiga device.

My idea is this The Amiga 1200Z Basically a 1200 style keyboard case containing a HD, CD, MODEM, SD SLOT and 3xUSB for Mouse, Printer and Joypad. It could boot to a simple front end where you can run your games & apps, drop down to Workbench or connect to an official Amiga
store where you can buy new and old Amiga games and apps or download the tools to make your own which you can then sell on the store. I think it would do well in the Nostalgia and Homebrew markets.

Once a prototype was made you could probably crowdfund it.

There's this- http://wiki.icomp.de/wiki/Amiga_reloaded Dunno if it will change somewhat due to the vampire accelerator which makes amigas super fast. http://www.apollo-core.com/knowledge.php

There's also been two a1200 case reproduction kickstarters- https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...from-new-molds
http://amigastore.eu/en/468-brand-ne...new-molds.html

So what you propose is feasible and incoming in a variety of different manners.

@britelite

I would rather the modulator-demodulator than the Amiga_Reloaded motherboard - it doesn't even have a CPU on board - after reading it myself I see it as a missed opportunity - except from a sales point of view!

Seems a tad pointless considering other options out there - even a tip top refurbished stock A1200 would be less than half the stated price (in today's markets) - and you kinda get more, like a working computer!

To be fair the A1200_Reloaded specifications are still being developed, so I can only go from what is on the Wiki page.

Personally I think the Vampire V2 for the the A500 will blow all this out of the water - with impressively fast IDE, well over 100 MIPS of binary compatible M68k processing power - combined with a very fast RTG card and a proposed additional header for NIC connectivity.

Get hunting for A500 pluses now =)

Great lurking skills!

Yes, I'll take a vampire board for a1200 when its ready. That might make the a1200 something akin to a meth head.
