thanks folks.
well, I'm working on the Turrican intro one at the moment.
I'll prob do more turrican 2 (including the intro and end tunes).
I want to do the Gods theme at some point along with Speedball 2.
Some Shadow of the beast, jim Power, more Dune, Lotus turbo esprit challenge had a nice intro tune.
Alien Breed... I might be able to work that one too
There's no shortage of great amiga tune and now that I'm more comfortable with the recording and editing process I think i can do them justice

good Turrican tunes i would suggest include the classic The Great Bath; and the Turrican 3 theme, something tells me that would work really well on a banjo.

There's a good heavy metal cover of Shadow of the Beast,

Doesn't like it. I've got the CDTV version and no chance this banjo interpretion could be any near as good.

Megablast is what it's name says: Well, not with a banjo...

But nice to see anotherone can earn some money doing "retro". ;-)

Clicked just for a quick listen to the Xenon 2 cover, spent a whole hour listening to other covers on the YouTube channel. I liked the cover of Psycho Fox and the "Side Crawler's Dance" from Wonderboy III a lot. Great covers of great game tunes!

If you do more Dune, I hope you will consider "Eco Love".

I think you're missing the point somewhat. The point is something like covering Metallica with a banjo - it's ridiculous. Covering Megablast with a banjo (or indeed any acoustic string instrument) is also ridiculous. Ridiculosity increases if you also do the drums... on a banjo.

You're at maximum overload awesomeness when you do scratching on a string instrument.

It's bloody wonderful is what it is

yes clearly it's not meant to be taken too seriously
The challenge of getting it to at least work somehow with acoustic instruments like the banjo and mandolin is where the interest (for me at least) lies . At the same time it's about taking these instruments out of their expected comfort zone (like folk musics) and expand on the sounds you can get out of them .

But I'm not trying to sound better or match the original, that would be pointless

This is actually why I don't do covers of existing "banjo" songs like the Banjo Kazooie or Earth worm jim. There just wouldn't be any point

I've just listened to one of the Turrican covers. Absolutely awesome! But when you're finished with the beginner's stuff, I've got a real challenge for you...

George Formby's 'When I'm Cleaning Windows'.

It'll never work!
