Request for SWOS version.

I've uploaded a SWOS data disc to the zone; no version of SWOS I've been able to find (at planetemu or on Cody's ultra-philanthropic ftp) will work with it. I can't make working .adf's of my originals; they are Copyrighted 1995 on the disc, the game is SWOS 95-96 (UK), with "Goal Scoring Super Star Hero" theme, but not the Euro etc expansions. Does anyone know if there is a working .adf of this version? Thanks for the time...

Nope: The game is AGA not ECS version. It will run of course, but I can't use my saved games with it

There isn't an AGA version of SWOS. It doesn't exist!

try the adf's put in the zone; they won't boot unless you are emulating an A1200... and when you try and load the saved games it says something like "oi, you need the A500 version". It does, trust me!

Send a message via ICQ to andreas Send a message via AIM to andreas
Try to "emulate an A1200" and before you start WinUAE, set the Chipset to 'Full ECS'. It will work.

[EDIT] Game crashes with an 1.3 Kickstart!
I got it to work with an A500+ configuration and a decent amount of RAM. That is Kickstart 2.04, 2 MB Chip RAM and 1 MB Slow RAM.
Steve is right. This game works independently of the graphics chipset (ECS or AGA).
However, I'd like to know if this game crashes on a real Kick 1.3 A500 as well.

Loaded A1200 config; switched chipset to Full ECS, loaded the version of SWOS kindly posted in the zone... "Competition Data Needs A Non-AGA Amiga" Nuts. I've tried every version of SWOS I can find... there's either a version mis-match error, or the adf's won't boot under A500 emulation. I guess it's not enormously important, I'd just really like to be able to access my old games...

I'd better just make it clear what I want; I have plenty of working Swos versions... I want one that can read the data disc I have posted to the zone. Sorry if I confused anyone.

Not strictly true

There are two boot files for SWOS on Disk 1, the loader code does a systems check and loads whatever file it thinks appropriate. If the WINUae detection tabs (i.e. kick 1.3, OCS Chipset, etc) are set correctly, then SWOS should select the ECS file to load from.

Also, the type of ram you select is crucial. If you don't select the exact memory type that you had on your A5oo, then your saves won't work as they are configured to work only on the memory type they were created with.

Yay!

Ok... I eventually got it working, thanks to your help; the version of SWOS posted in the zone will crash as an 60800 machine with OCS and 512k Chip/512k Slow, and either Kick 1.2 and 1.3, immediatly after showing the blue DOS screen (where the Quartex crack screen would appear). However, if I set WinUAE to a 68EC020 processor, Kick 3.1, OCS chipset, 512k Chip and 512k Slow, it'll boot succesfully, and then recognize my saved disc. Thanks again!
