GRRRR You went into my brain and stole this idea THIEVING BASTS! I realise everyone is like 'sure' but I genuinely had this idea ages ago. My idea was to produce a online magazine for Amiga games going through its life from the early days to the end and even to have coverdisks which full adf's could be downloaded from! I even posted a question a while ago about if it was possible to view all the releases in HOL chronologically to help me with this project.
Only reason I havent already started it is because I am currently busy working on another site.
Im posting this so that when/if MY mag appears, I want people to know I AM NOT stealing the idea.

The APoV idea goes back to when Twistin', Walker and I started working on HOL - that is years ago now!

Anyway, doing a PDF magazine is hardly an original idea, is it?

Perhaps this idea was thought of before I did and perhaps there are other examples, its just when I read this thread for the first time, it was like EVERYTHING I had planned was there!
Never mind eh? Id be glad to contribute some reviews to APoV and I might still produce my own mag aswell (theres still one idea of mine left that hasnt be mentioned)

It doesn't matter if someone else has the same idea or if there are other examples. All that matters is doing it better than them! Take the HOL, for example...

Last year I and a friend of mine were talking about making a website that had amiga game reviews on it. This one was planned to be quite original, for it would not be a retrogaming site. We'd review the games as if they were just published, as if we were still living the 16-bit era! There would be no indication on modern gaming hardware or software's existency and we planned to shock the innocent visitor a little bit First issue of the site would be prepared in mid 80s and we planned a news section that would have news on unreleased but promising games like chaos engine or flashback then we'd review Sensible Soccer and compare it to the king of footy games, Kick Off!

I think maybe we may turn APoV into something similar. I personally don't like the term "retro". These games we play on amigas are still as entertaining and as new as the day they were first released.

We've already come up with your final idea too; the Dastardly brand salad cream.

Wouldn't the reader just assume he is reading an old Amiga mag reproduction in PDF format? There are so many cool things to do and feature in the APoV, why mire ourselves by committing to such a restraining concept?

I agree. Also, it's very difficult to disregard the years since and review games as if you're still in the early 90s.

that's the whole concept, it's not easy and rewarding to create many many issues using this concept but knowing that it is not an old mag, rather a funny concept, people can have a good laugh, or just be interested in. I think, that'll be a piece of art!

This may be a bit off-topic, but I wrote an editorial about a similar subject not so long ago. There I tried to express 'retro-only' is a pretty uninteresting point of view, but that it can be mixed into a review as a sidenote talking mainly about a current point of view.

Good article, with some valid points.

We'll try and take most of this onboard when deciding on the writing style.

Due to recent staff changes, APoV has a vacancy for a Graphics Artist.

The role will primarily be to create 2D bitmap or vector artwork e.g. the main APoV logo and graphics to be used within sections of the mag.

The numerous job benefits include:

- To be part of a well-organised and dedicated team.
- Flexible working hours.
- Good pay.*
- A chance to be part of a historic Amiga project.
- To be able to work with Cody Jarrett.

Email or PM me.
