It's real easy. You hire a team of skilled programmers, no own programming skills required. Throw some money at them and tell them what you want them to convert.
It's *that* easy ;-)

Or just run them in an emulator, no conversion required.

Yep, you're pretty much describing an emulator. Converts software on the fly, and someone has already done all the coding for you...

Not sure if trolling or not but anyway... Converting a game from a different platform requires knowledge of both the source and the target platform. And it is of course not possible without programming knowledge.

I think SNES transparency effect may be problematic on Amiga, more music channels too.

Indeed, transparencies would be a killer, along with the 65536 possible colors on screen, mode7, large number of large sprites and more.

Emulating SNES games is completely out of the stock 1200's league.
Ports are possible but cf StingRay's answer.

The harsh reality is that creating/porting/converting games will always (as it stands) requires some base knowledge of coding.

There have been some decent attempts in the past to allow people to create games without the need to code, Backbone and Shoot 'em Up Construction Kit for example. The former being very buggy and difficult to work with, the latter being very simplistic, limited in scope.

AMOS is a good starting point, at the very least it will teach you some basic programming principles.

As of this date there is no "Holy Grail" of simplistic and flexible game creation that doesn't require any coding. If anybody finds it please let me know.

We'll have AI one day that will convert a c64 game to Amiga in one microsecond but by then we'll be busy fending off killer robot's, so alas, no time to play the perfect conversions..

P.S. That's a long lived troll-thread BTW. .. ;-)

One can be interested by something and not know yet what effort it represents.
Asking questions to other people is the right way to proceed.

When Locksmith has enough information about what he/she wants to accomplish then (s)he can decide whether to put the required amount effort into it.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

I'm just working on a 1:1 port of The Witcher 3 for the ZX-80 and now you're telling me it won't work without any knowledge?

Don't get pessimistic, you can do it man ;-)

BTW, I have to say it was noble of @ReadOnlyCat to give the OP the benefit of a doubt while the rest if us assumed off-the-chart-trolling ;-)

Well, this is an active choice and I apply this philosophy to any human interaction: never assume malice and try to understand the context of the other person. This is not really noble, it is just more productive.

I have found that this prevents many unnecessary misunderstanding and conflicts. We are hard wired to assume a defensive position when something unusual/unexpected comes our way and while that was very useful for our ancestors back in the jungle days that is completely unproductive on the Internet where we lack visual clues as to what the intent of our interlocutor is.

I would rather be mocked by a troll rather than accidentally hurt a sincere person so the choice is not hard to make.
