there are also many where sources are available but noone there continuing to develop. But you are right... if someone wants to give up his software it is better to open the sources so there is at least a chance. But in this case (based on public statements) this seems not to be the case, at least not yet

I have registered my WHDLoad Version many many years ago. I'm glad i did it as it is one of the best software i ever paid for.
Thanks for all the work you put in it WEPL. Hope it will still go on in the future.
Marry X-Mas and happy new year.

But surely the new Vampire boards are going to make the hardware more interesting again? WHDLoad will be useful for those if not so much for UAE. Thanks to the devs for this - I'm a bit odd and try to use floppies but it's great for the community.

I must admit that, although I already knew it, I only started really using WHDLoad with version 18.1.
Since I was not registered yet and was annoyed from the long wait at startup, I was motivated enough to remove the wait time altogether. I've learnt a few things in the process, like the passion the author has for BEEF...
In comparison, hacking the "registered-users-only" slaves was much easier!

I am still using whdload 17.1 on all my Amiga's. I seem to remember I tried later versions and got a lot of problems with games not loading. Is there any real benefit in later versions, as 17.1 seems to load anything just fine for me.

Do you have a MC68060 CPU? I have such problem as you but only on my 060 Amiga, on 040/030 and 020 there no problems with higher versions.

I only have 020s and one 030

Edit: It could have been different settings in whdload prefs file causing it in later versions. I haven't tried anything in ages. I just use 17.1 which comes with Classic Workbench. Seems to be working really nice with all games except a few ones where I have slowdowns and I need to put 'cache' in tooltips to fix them. So unless there are any real benefits in the later versions I don't wanna mess around to much.

@turrican9:
What you can do is reading the WHDLoad History.txt file. Especially from V17.1 upwards. Compare your WHDLoad.prefs with the current one. There were some updates. With comparing and thinking you should be able to find the culprit. If that doesn`t help I would ask Wepl if he has a hint for you.

Still using 17.1 myself. Have found no need to upgrade as of yet, it runs everything I have tried with it!

At which point it will be time to upgrade which is not a problem. The number of slaves on my drive already would take a lifetime to get through, so I may not come across any incompatible ones that require a newer build.
