this is why we have the luckiest and greatest community :

Not only we have good coders, but we have also awesome programs like whdload which has offered a new life to the amiga

It's the reason why we have new accelerator boards, new hardware for our amigas, either A500, 600 or 1200 and 4000.

Thanks also to the multiple persons whom have allowed their access to their game collections, giving images of their original games to be supported under whdload.

And thanks to our great fellows coders of slaves, for the cool installations they brought us.

I'm proud to be part of the amiga community

I thought he was joking at first, but for some bizarre reason he apparently genuinely feels hard done by with this move. Oh well, it's a full moon, I guess the crazies have to come out every now and again
he thinks he bought a product and is disappointed that it is now free of charge and he has spent money. He not understands that the fee was a kind of donation for the devs who have invested lots of time in it. Some propably will never understand...

I got my own key for free earlier this year, and now anyone thinking about trying out WHDLoad gets a great x-mas present. Bert really is a generous guy.

Apparently there's another idiot that thinks the same:

I registered mine key more than 10 years ago and I think this was one of best investment in amiga software not because it was required for some games but it's was damn good program and those money (I think) allows to future dev. of WHDLoad and patches.

Totally agreed. Best value for money I've ever spent on Amiga software, by far.

It'd be interesting to see the number of people who did register it. It would be nice to see how many people still care enough to pay for Amiga products and it would give a good idea of how many people still use upgraded Amiga's instead of basic A500s etc.

Great piece of software. I registered mine many years ago. It was one of the best things I did. I'd do it without hesitation once more.

Jeez, this whole thread reads like an obituary.

I love the amiga, and WHDLoad is, and continues to be an amazing piece of software for it.

I still intend to put in a donation when I can, since I had planned to buy it(eventually) when I had some money to actually do so.

Been using WHDLoad for over a decade, and hope to use it for decades more.

Long live WHDLoad!

Great news!

I registered recently, and just like to say thanks for all the work!

Now that it's free of charge, I'd strongly recommend putting the source code on github (or similar site). I've done that with my projects and people start submitting code, patches, and fixing bugs I didn't even know I had. It's the power of liberating your source! Through github I can easily review the code, and merge it into my project if I'm happy with it.

To me it's very noticeable that the Amiga community in general is lacking in this regard (and thereby shooting itself in the foot) by everyone sitting on their source code, yet they don't have time to work on it.

(Pleas don't take this as any criticism aimed at any single person or project)

Thanks!

How many project sources have been lost because authors kept the sources private...
ex: most commercial games, lots of excellent PD software, AmigaOS sources ...
