Galaxian

Of course there is a great Galaga clone called Deluxe Galaga for the Amiga. ECS and AGA (Amiga 1200) versions. Really good.

No robotron, but there is a spiritual successor of sorts - Smash TV:

There's a pretty faithful PacMan clone: PucMan: http://hol.abime.net/1174

whdload install removes shareware limitation... maybe not very ethical?

Well, considering PucMan is a complete ripoff of PacMan in the first place, I find it hard to defend it on ethical grounds.

But indeed, WHDLoad should only operate from the original protected material. Anything else would be simply encouraging piracy under the guise of HD installation. I would hear quite a few scream at this notion though.

If you like robotron, check out llamatron 2112. An interpretation by Jeff Minter.

FWIW, he also did a good implementation of defender for the Amiga:

Qbic is a good qbert clone as well

That also annoys me that games like final fight get decent but not perfect ports due to the hardware limitation, but games like moon patrol, galaxians were not ported, probably because people were not into retrogaming at the time.
And now mame is too slow even for a 060, so not perfect arcade clones from the early 80s for the miggy

The original japanese arcade is actually called Puc(k)man, it was changed to Pacman for western audiences, for obvious reasons.

Both games were ported to Atari ST. Another thing is how they are "perfect" to arcade versions.

How Moon Patrol and Galaxian from Atari ST are good ?

16 colors are just enough for those games, 32 is too much

I believe I read somewhere it was due to people scratching off part of the 'P' on the marquee of the arcade machines, so that it looked like an 'F'...
After that, the name was changed for Western audiences!
