Amiga music for music snobs?

I'm a bit of an audiophile and while I'm a big fan of some Amiga soundtracks (eg the Flashback music, Turrican 2 (in small doses)) I find a lot of it relied on the weaker aspects and isn't good for easy listening. For example high-pitched brass sounds sound very cheap but down a few octaves sound pretty decent.

Anyway, a lot of the music I've been looking through on YouTube is very noisy stuff or too fast and I'd want to be on drugs or something to enjoy it. Anything classy anyone would recommend?

At some point I will probably learn to use the trackers to put something together myself that you can all poke fun at

Edit: I realise I am just not the target audience for this music, but there are always exceptions. For example Nothing Else Matters on The Black album, Trail of Tears by Testament, Black Lodge by Anthrax - all beautiful soft songs by heavy metal bands.

Edit2: I found this: http://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_random but I'm still interested in specific suggestions.

The Amiga does 8 bit samples and to conserve RAM, they were not sampled at anywhere near CD quality.. The samples will all sound very crunchy to your golden ears, that's just how it is. :-)

Here's a mod I made, it's fairly chilled and easy on the ear.

Very nice! But these are all mp3 remixes whereas I want something I can play on the A1200 to keep me motivated to get other apps working

Thanks for the reality check, and good point. But there are still exceptions, such as the Flashback title tune that plays to all the strengths of the Amiga (subjective, I know).

I think it's too late for me I'm afraid But now that you mention it, maybe I should run it through better speakers also.

Quite! it would be like watching 1970s Dr Who and complaining about the special effects...

I think this is my most easy-listening track:

I always liked the 2nd part of [ Show youtube player ] (mod)
[ Show youtube player ] - Also some very nice easy listening tracks. (AMP link to elf)
Chrylian - The famous "Sonate to Her" (despite the Lotusesque distorted guitars) is fabulous, but also some quite cool (acid-)jazz stuff

I assume you use Delitracker2? Delitracker2 has an AHX player, but it doesn't decrunch files automatically, sorry about that

Here's the decrunched version: electricCity.zip

Thanks, but the .zip contains the same file (I did extract the .lha). Or is it just the filename that's the same?

No need to apologise! I've had a great night listening to these while tidying up - many thanks!!

I get that. I like the harder rock too, but a well written, more laid back tune by competent rockers is always good.

Add to those you mentioned one I've been running through my rotation, Motorhead's 'Dust and Glass', definitely not like 'The Ace of Spades'.

Yeah, it does

The problem is most likely that the AHX player is still in Delitracker's PlayerStore folder. This folder is in the DeliPlayers folder. Move the AHX-DeliPlayerII020 file from DeliPlayers/PlayerStore to DeliPlayers. Re-load Delitracker if it was running. That should solve the problem.
