About King of Karate:

It is either (too) buggy or requires some specific KS/library/something combination. (Version downloaded from amiga.resource.cx)

1) copper list when it "uploads" Amiga display data to VRAM is broken, vertical DIWSTRT is bad (line number that is smaller than current) causing nothing being visible = blank image gets transferred to OpalVision.

2) when status bar appears, copper list is again broken but differently, it enables bitplanes horizontally mid screen. Which could be normal, there are some demos that work accidentally but that is not very likely..

Can anyone run it without blank screen at startup or something non-corrupted visible than status bars appear?

Aminet patch makes no difference. PAL or NTSC: no difference.

zone: OpalVision_Complete.zip -> KINGKAUP.ACE

#1) this is the same you already saw on aminet. :/

#2) OpalVision_AnimMATE-20.dms
comes with an example animation, when playing i get the grey-ish screen.
while at the same session OpalPaint works in full colors.

#2) King of Karate: winuae beta 10/13/2016
I get something like this when i choose a level, startscreen looks ok.
same with original and updated version.
color reduced images - fighters looks ok, just background is in those "grey-ish" mode.

*just removed the images to save some space*

So it really is version or WB specific. I can't get anything else than status bars. Black background + corrupted graphics.

Could you upload your king of karate directory + libs:opal.library, opalfx.library and opalfxext.library? It is at least confirmed working combination.

Does it also work if you boot without startup-sequence?

EDIT:

OpalVision_AnimMATE-20.dms
This sets control line very differently, it seems hardware trigger method works differently than I originally thought.

i've zoned: KoK-OpalVision.lha
the gamefolder plus opal*.librar(y)ies from my libs: folder.

#1) does also work booting w/o startup-sequence.
just added the assigns to opalvison: and karatedat: ( see included assign script )
and started loader.exe. titlescreen looks good, levelscreen in this "grey-ish" mode,
as seen above. no setpatch, no loadwb, just cd to the kok folder, assigns and loader.exe from cli.

btw: did you were using the "install" script of the KoK disk #1?
it does some file converting, while installing. just about to ensure, your non working version
has something todo with the install procedure.

i can just nod here while I wait for a new beta

btw: winuae beta 13 10/23/2016 - if I run workbench in P96 with z3-uae-rtg gfx card (800x600 32 bit) and start opalpaint, the system freezes.
if i use pal hires/lace for the workbench, opalpaint just starts as expected.

Your uploaded archive works perfectly (I don't remember how it installed it).

I don't see any green screen effect so perhaps OpalPaint palette fix also fixed King of Karate.

winuae.7z updated.

PlayAnim24 is not yet fixed.

RTG compability problem may be normal.

This is strange. Example animation works if I invert all control line bits (and only control line, not palette/cop-pro data lines) and shift starting position by one bit.

This program is not using opal.library. Opalvision control software is built-in.

OpalVision_v2.4_020.lha - i've just zoned is the one from aminet Opal24_020.lha - so i unzoned it.

this has some more recent versions of the OpalUtils, compared to the ones on OpalVision_AnimMATE-20.dms.

i tried to make some different anim types with this MakeAnim24 tool, but this is just a mess.
you have to have an image sequence (gif i tried) and you may multiselect them in a file requester, which is simply not working.
tried to get some more example anims in those supported types, but so far no success.

PlayAnim24 works now. Guaranteed to be not hardware matching control line parsing but at least it works without breaking opalpaint or kok.

Here is how control lines are encoded:

Not-PlayAnim24 (=all that use opal.library):

Code:
11.11.11.11.11.11.11.11.00.00.00.00.00.00.11.00 = bit 0
11.11.11.11.11.11.11.11.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00 = bit 1
(each byte is 2xRGBI digital out nibbles)

PlayAnim24:

Code:
11.11.11.11.11.11.11.11.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00 = bit 0
11.00.11.11.11.11.11.11.00.00.00.00.00.00.00.00 = bit 1
Everything else is exact same including start position. Each control line has 20 above 16 byte sequences. Oddly enough only first control line uses this very wasteful encoding, palette and "co-pro" codes are encoded differently. (ColorBurst use same encoding, main difference is control line length, CB line is 16 bits, Opal is 20 bits)

i can confirm this, the anim is displayed corectly now, while KoK and OpalPaint still
work as expected. the coder for sure was drunken or got the wrong weed.
good work

KingOfKarate - HOL

edit: i made some screen shots, now in native resolution i think.
using winuae's build in screenshot feature and "before filtering" and stuff enabled.
made 4 shots , startscreen, and one from each level.

zoned: OpalVision-KingOfKarate-Images.zip
