The Best Amiga Racer

Steve's poll has kinda inspired me to create another Best thingy poll here, so let's talk racing!

I can't remember every single good racer out there from the off, so if I've missed out on any others you are free to add them to the poll if you wishes.

Thumbs up XJ 220

I have voted Jaguar XJ 220 too. I prefer games with good in-game music so this one is an easy choice. It is a great two-player game, too.

Maybe you should add X-Treme Racing to the poll. Even though I don't like it too much personally, it seems to be pretty popular with some people.

My personal favourite (also not on the list) is Stunt Car Racer

I voted for XJ220 though I was torn between a couple of games. Lotus 2 was great as well. ATR had great graphics and Overdrive was a classic as well.

As long as Xtreme Racing is not listed I vote for Supercars 2.

For me it was a close call between F1GP, which is the most fun, realistic racing game, All Terrain Race, which is the most fun arcadey racing game I ever played and Micro Machines, the best 2 players racing game ever.

In the end, I voted for All Terrain Race, as I doubt it will get many votes

Lotus 2. No doubt. The game that I finished only 2 or 3 times (without cheating) and still I discover myself to run it every time I use my friendly Winfellow!

I also want to add that my fav sprite based chase-view racing game for Amiga is Lamborghini American Challenge. This game is fast, furious, it has a cool 2 players options, and it was great everywhere. And it's NOT IN THE LIST.

In 2nd would come Jaguar XJ220 .

I also liked Burning Rubber a lot, but it seems like I am the only one who remembers this game.

Never played the Jaguar game, so logically my vote has to go to SuperCars 2.

Ooops. Sorry about that mate. If only I was allowed to edit my own poll (why moderators only?) and also if only there wasn't a 15-entry limit I would've been very willing to make these additions reality.

Actually, I remember it around its original release. Well, at least I recall seeing magazine adverts for it and a review in AP. I think there was a demo of it on one of The One's coverdisks as well.

I went for the Skidmarks series, as this is a great one player/multi player game.

I can say I played Jaguar XJ220 much more than any other in the Lotus series. But when Lamborghini was out, this was my main sprite based racing game.

For some reason I didnt snap Crazy Cars 3... oh no, now I remember why, there wasnt one single version of it working here in Brazil

Marz... ops. I forgot.. Method, no prop, I wouldnt vote for Lamborghini anyway... I prefer overhead racing games at anytime, so my vote would go for A.T.R anyway. Racing games is the genre that IMO most benefits of 3D graphics.

Oh, and talking about it... where's 4D Sports Driving?

Burning Rubber indeed was in a The One coverdisk.

Jaguar XJ 220 is superb on the MegaDrive CD. I just played it and it's quite fun.

The Amiga version was decent but lacking a bit. For me, there is no better and crisper racing game on the amiga than power Drive. I like the top down 3/4 perspective as well.
