Chips's Challenge and unreleased sequel coming to Steam

I absolutely loved this puzzler back in the day and is probably one of the few games I managed to complete.

The author, Chuck Sommerville, had been beavering away on a sequel but two years later after the first CC, it transpired that the Chip's Challenge trademark had been sold. Fast forward several years of negotiations, CC2 will see daylight on 29th May on Steam.

However, is it just me who thinks the Amiga version of CC1 was the best of the bunch? CC1 on the PC one looks kinda sparse in comparison to Amiga. At least with the sequel, gone is the jerky 16x16 scrolling that graced the PC version.

Might be worth a look if you're a fan of Chip's Challenge or just a puzzle freak.

Why didn't you put it in Retrogaming General Discussion? Sequels/spinoffs of older titles are totally retro in my book.

Oh and here's review of the original by LGR [ Show youtube player ]

There's also part 1 of the game on Steam, gonna be released the same day: http://store.steampowered.com/app/346850/

Probably because I had a muppet moment?

Could a moderator kindly move this into the correct forum, please? Thanks!

Cheers, TCD.

Ironically, there are still remakes of Chip's Challenge floating about on the 'net. Not seen one that's a patch on the original though.

And before the trademark was attained, Chuck Sommerville had done another game called Chuck's Challenge 3D (2014). One I've not played yet.

Definitely, especially the music. Never could finish that massive ice sliding maze level, which I think is the very last one.

The Atari Lynx version had a slightly better sprite for Chip though, better detailed and slightly more animation frames. The generic graphics of the Amiga version or entirely not bad, but the main sprite is just ugly.

I really miss the colorful look of the Amiga/Lynx versions :/ But the puzzles are just as good as always of course. Perhaps the minimalistic graphics actually make it easier to see the solutions.
