3D printable A500 Raspberry Pi case

Ok, it's taken me ages to getting round to finishing it, but my 3D printable Amiga 500 case for Raspberry Pi (B+/2) is now finished (as a 1.0... lol!)

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:711938

I haven't yet printed one so I have no idea if it will "work" and is still a WIP but by all means go ahead and give it a go if you can! (I won't be at the printer next until tuesday at the earliest...)
I had to make a few concessions to make it fit a Pi and be a bit easier to print but it still looks pretty close

Cheers!

That is super cool! I'd love to see a "working" model when somebody has had a chance to do this!

should be fine on about 20-25% infill or less....
the file is a pretty complicated mesh so i'm not surprised it's big. But the large area underneath the keyboard doesn't need to be solid. the tricky bit will be getting the support right...

you might want to wait for the next version as i didn't make a cutout for SD card access... (DOH!)

@Lesta, yup , I have a replicator 2.

printing the back portion of the upper case was a no go, it looks like there was no support for the sides. loose strands and a floating screw hole

sorry yes, there will need to be support generated... someone on facebook has done a successful run of it, but i haven't found out yet what he did with support structure. I usually have slic3r generate support but haven't had a chance to try one yet.

in fact i'd originally intended it to be printed upside down but even that would have support issues....

(hopefully) final update...
I had trouble slicing the top with slic3r and after talking to some 3D print bods, found that it needed 'fixing' so it's been run through netfabb, and now the top stl has gone down from 7Mb to 1.5, and it slices nicely.

of course it still needs support generated and in slic3r that means unticking "don't support bridges" (unless your printer can bridge 10ish cm of gap...)
