Don't you love these prices?

Amiga C65:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/171673209321

7650 euros, "happy" bidding. . . wha da. . .

Seriously now? Don't you hate bidding on items that you can "use" against "collector" folk that want to put it up on a shelf and frame it?

Then again, I'm not sure what you could "use" the Amiga C65 for these days except if you are a grandpa and like to persecute your kids with "in my days . . . "

Yeah, Commodore 65, meant to be a continuation of the C64 line. Too bad Commodore never ran this in production it would have been something for 8-bit fans.

Not surprised the price is so high as these were prototypes and not many in existence. Going to a wealthy collector, no doubt.

The last working one in a case with PSU sold for $15,000

I bought my motherboard & PSU for $200 about 14 years ago from Centsible / Paxtron. They had no cases. Some motherboards were missing custom chips.

I never found a case or keyboard.

Serial numbers seem to imply at least 300 units were made.

In wikipedia:
Sales[edit]
In December 2009, a working C65 on the online auction site eBay achieved a sales price of € 6060.[9][10] A computer with missing parts was in October 2011 sold for about 20100 USD. In April 2013 an eBay auction reached the highest auction price for an C65 at 17827 EUR.[11]

The C65 would have been fairly likely to have suffered the same fate as the Amstrad CPC Plus range, that had similar boosted capabilities but still relied on 8 bit tech like the C65.

I think they realised that while the 8 bit market had some interest, it was limited and bringing out another 8 bit system may have hurt sales of low end Amigas. Again though, it was dumb to bring out the A600 against the A1200.

Pretty interesting machine. It's like a blend of a C64 and OCS and AGA Amigas.

And the auction is closing in just 2 minutes...

... at €20050... unbelievable.
