Big grin Amiga Compatible LED Monitor Asus VE208T

Hello everyone I have been playing with my A1200 with HDMI scan converter.
But I picked up an ASUS VE208T made in 2012.
I unplugged scan converter and plugged in my trusty 23pin adapter to vga and it syncs "VGA,Multiscan,Euro72,DblNTSC,NTSC-interlaced,Pal-interlaced".
Interlaced it does flicker but NTSC/Pal modes are beautiful and crisp.
I don't understand why no DblPal but I can live with that.
Tested on NTSC A1200 and my Pal A1200 with similar results.

They are only $115 US so I might have to pickup a couple more.

Asus VE208T PAL-SHIRES_LACED

Yes PAL-SHIRES and LACED seem to be ok see picture
but NTSC-SHIRES seems to have blurring .

My scart to HDMI converter still works better by removing flicker but has minor
ghosting when playing games.

but the VE208T with rgb to vga adapter I didn't notice ghosting or motion blur.

Tickled by just connecting I will Have to look at different ASUS models to see if they have same results.

note: this is the vga/dvi model with speakers the plug would be next to power port.

On picture i see that probably each second pixel is lost (at least it looks like point resizing and removing odd or even pixel).

yes that would be accurate after comparing with my scart to hdmi's picture it does seem to be compressing image.

Interesting, should try a few other modern LCDs too
Reminds me of my old CRT ViewSonic, the specs don't tell you anything real sometimes, but when you input a signal to it, it works! Well almost in my case, it displayed the picture correctly, and then a message popped up, signal out of range, and shut the screen black

I've got a Hanns-G here (HA191) that does something similar - flawless picture, overlaid with a message which says "signal out of range"!
(If you set the OSD transparency to maximum it's usable in an emergency!)

I can see that it says 50 Hz - is it indeed smooth scrolling as well or does it get converted for the panel?

this is a widescreen monitor? so what happens to the aspect ratio, is the screen stretched sideways to fit?

Id like to know that too.

Does it work with the lower resolutions that games typically use?

If it does how is the scrolling, smooth or stutter?

Good find, thanks!

Cool, good to know....

My Dell 24" also supports the native modes -> [ Show youtube player ] but looks pretty average.

The best LCD display I've seen so far is using a 1280x1024 (no stretching) LED back-lit Samsung panel using my Mrk2 -> [ Show youtube player ]

I had a dell that displayed native modes, but it was too much fussing with screen controls to keep the picture centered. It didn't have great picture quality either. I ditched it.

That does look cool, but don't know what an Mrk2 is, unless that is the board that gets installed to fix flicker/scan etc?

Which adapter are you using for HDMI/Scart? How bad is the ghosting on games? Is the motion smooth, just blurry?

Trying to find a good solution to replace my 1084, without buying a add on board installed in my 500/1200/2000/

This monitor may do the trick, but perhaps the HDMI adapter might be good too.

Thanks!

According to the manual you can change the aspect ratio to 4:3 or Full.

According to the Specs sheet in the manual it does not support below 31Khz. Apparently that is wrong.

I am using a HD scart to hdmi has 5 video modes 800x600,1024x768,1280x1024,720p,1080p and will switch 50hz or 60hz video.
about $55 + build or buy scart to amiga cable.
deinterlace video flawless at pal/ntsc Shires-laced
a1000 a1200 a2000 a4000 a500 tested to work

only thing it will not pass 31khz video like 14khz to 17khz only input.

also i have used the $4 hdmi to vga dongles and hdmi to dvi cables and output to standard vga monitors with 4:3 ratio.
and no noticable blurring or pixel studder like the gbs8200.
