OK, he didn't need to send me a (temporary) gift in my call, but trying to convince me his device will work well with my C128.

Maybe that's been the reason for his fast answers.

Anyway, I'd say the 1541U II is without a doubt the best expansion money can buy for a C64, but it's not the best device in terms of money for value.

It's a box*.

*I'm looking forward to its opening! I took an instant liking to your site and writing a while back and am becoming a regular visitor.

Yes (and you're welcome)! Careful study has allowed me to conclude that it is an inanimate yet portable receptacle - a vessel or container, if you like - formed from cardboard, reusable and recyclable no less! Also it can be opened... and closed.

Contents may vary (and could feature the letters 'S' and 'D' and the number '2'). Ahem.

Does the Princess load disks as well? .d64 or whatever. Also, what is the cheapest sd-solution?

It loads D64,PRG,TAP files

( But it doesn't load some demos, same issue with the SD2IEC )

Atm, I'm just using my C128 D and my C64 C is collecting dust (thanks to the 8580) and it seems to be some kind of hit and miss, if the 1541U II is working with a Commodore 128 or not, so I didn't dare to buy one myself yet.
I got my 1541U-II about 6 months ago and it took very little effort to get it working 100% with my C128, I think I just had to disable the RetroReplay cartridge.
