email sent to Jens with the following info:

I have a revision 3.0 A3640 card and the version of my 68040.library file is 37.30. I cannot find any mmu library files so I dont think I am using that.

I installed Thors MMU Library, it didn't help I still get NAK timeout and lockup when disabling USB stack in ZIII mode.

Thors 68040 Library also broke my RTG so I had to go back to the old one 37.30

Is there a better 040 library I should be using?

My setup:

A4000
WarpEngine 040
CV64/3D + Scan Doubler
Kickflash (Containing OS3.9 BB2 & HSMath Libs)
Tocatta Soundcard
XS100 + RapidRoad USB

Tried with and without HSMath lib installed, same results.

I'm running OS3.9 (Classic Workbench) with Picasso96 and PeterK Icon Library.

So it seems issue is not confined to A3640

Also system it noticeably slower since installing Thors MMU library so I think I'll remove it anyway.

It's weird because I swear it was all fine when we first set it up!

Done some more testing, it's only USB sticks that are causing the NAK timeout's, other USB devices and CF card in CF reader are working fine.

Note this in both ZII and ZIII modes and the system still hangs if I disable USB in ZIII mode.

I also tried another 68040 library (Cosmo's) and the behavior is the same. Some good news though, system is noticeably faster with Cosmos' 68040 library!

Maybe we should find out what OS those users with issues have, again mine is OS3.9 with BB2 update. (Classic Workbench version)

regarding the a3640 issue...

It is time for an update on this!

I've sent you the library versions, but not a response about it being received. I even asked in this thread what versions you use, and complete silence...
Would it not be easier if we tested the versions that make things work on your setup? Anyway, here is my setup for others to compare.

setup1:
mmu.library -> not installed
68040.library -> 37.30
setup2:
mmu.library -> 43.14
68040.library -> 37.30
setup3:
mmu.library -> not installed
68040.library -> 44.2
setup4:
mmu.library -> 43.14
68040.library -> 44.2

a3640 3.0 with the cut'n'jumper hack applied.buster11 installed.
same result on all setups in zIII mode. (nac timeout, enum failed)

@thread, what revision is your a3640?

I'm guessing it is NACK as in 'not acknowledge'. When two devices communicate asyncronously, it is common to use a signal to acknowledge or not acknowledge that data has been read or written. If there is no response, you get a time out.

Thanks for clarifying, how do these NAC (or NACK) timeouts manifest themselves?, just so I know what to look out for.

Thanks roomeo yes that was what I meant thank you. At least I know what to look for now but I don't seem to be getting those errors at least not when the x-surf is is ZII mode, I get all kinds of problems and lock ups in ZIII mode though even with the A3640 out the picture (I use a warp engine 4040)

Rapidroad have worked with my below setup without any problem. I am using self powered hub between my usb peripherals and rapidroad.

it works with several usb mouses, external hardisks, card readers, usb sticks... flawlessly

now i am trying find a usb ethernet converter that supported by posedion software in Turkey, i have already purchased 3 but all refused to work.

Can anyone suggest an usb2ethernet product that has compatible chipset with the possedion?

A3640 rev 3.1 used in both tests z2/z3 on xs100

rev b mainboard and rev 1 daughterboard.
rev b mainboard and rev b daughterboard.

Both boards get Same nak timeout (10) error.

Ive also tried mmu.library and different 68040.library, no change.

The rapidroad works fine in my 1200 via clockport, its twice as fast as the subway. But i didnt buy it for the 1200.

get this sorted out!!!

The product is still being sold with false information on icomp and resellers sites.. THIS IS FRAUD!!

And spending months just to get the bug reproduced is beyond useless. Don't seem like a prioritized problem..

It's seems Jens is ignoring this unpleasant thread.. so much for spending hundreds of euros on bad quality hw that hasent been tested on the most common a4000 setup..

I am surely not the only one who feels this way?

I am p**** off by this amigaland-syndrome: "two more weeks" or complete silence..

Thanks

Well Done, that rant is sure to make jens get he issue resolved much quicker. There really no need to be rude this is not a commercial product it is a small home project as as such you should not expect as fast results. I'd be a bit more patient and courteous if I were you and you might get the results you (we all) want.

Hi.

So individual computers isnt a commercial business? lol
Im not being rude at all, im just pointing out facts! Im not expecting the issue to be resolved over night, but after nearly a halv a year it should have been..

Anyways, my biggest issue is that RapidRoad and Xsurf is still being sold without this information available to customers.. If i had read the forums regarding the a3640 issue i would have hesitated buying one... This is what i call fraud. Selling something knowing its a lesser product... I have pointed this out to jens and resellers with no understanding. This smell fishy!

If my opinions delays the bugfix of the rapidroaddriver it is not on me!
