A successful business can only be achieved by satisfying the customers needs!

Just sayin...

Mr. Mounty,

Feedback: I think the device spoils the lines of the A500 and would be better developed in the style of a C64c SD2IEC perhaps? It looks a bit daft sat on top of the casing like that It almost reminds me of a burglar alarm attached to the front of a house!

What about an external device that clamps onto the back of the Amiga 1200 using the IDE port, that would be awesome

As it is now, I don't know... Kinda looks like the Amiga has a giant growth

Paul his design must sit ontop of the a500, it uses a thin cable to feed through the grill in the case.

Which is a great idea and I personally would purchase one if it could be reduced in height. At the moment though it just looks too bulky.

It's a shame Monty couldn't just take feedback on board instead of taking it personally and acting childish.

I was thinking perhaps he could use the external FDD connector on the back - there are modifications possible to have the external drive acting as DFO:....? It'd certainly be nicer and keep the aesthetics of the Amiga instead of having something stuck to the top of the case or in worst case scenario cutting the case! Plus the internal drive can be left alone...

What I'd be looking for, and I suspect many others, would be a replacement shell for the PCB to install it inside the Amiga and replace the internal drive completely, without having to cut the Amiga case. Any external housing could be small enough to hold the track LED and disk change buttons, but a replacement shell would mean that the USB port is accessible from the centre of the floppy drive, and everything else is blanked off. As an alternative, the disk eject button could be replaced by the two buttons on the Gotek, similar to some of the solutions suggested for the Raspberry Pi floppy emulator.

This would be an ideal solution imo. A case that would fit neatly (in my case it would be A1200) inside the system but gives a better access via floppy drives like extended switches/display.

Possibly sits partially outside of casing

I already did that, and have been selling them for quite a while now.

Not to worry - old Mounty's got his thinking cap on again, I have a much better idea in the pipeline, watch this space....

Dunno about that, Apple seems to do alright just by making needs up.

Brand loyalty. If Coca Cola were new today nobody would think it was special.

Also marketing.

That used to be true, before the recession.

Now you have to replace "satisfying" with "exceeding".

I would think the Amiga market is much smaller than it once was 24 years ago. But let us know when you make your first million
